Do you remember him doing so in the first few years of his career? My recollection is that he was pretty focused on becoming a better football player back then.

    It kind of does.

    As opposed to now?

And yes, he made commercials when he was a young player. Did he do them as a rookie? I can't recall...

edit - Russell Wilson makes quite a few commercials. Why isn't he getting panned.

    No, it really doesn't.

What I would like to see is him stay more than an hour after practice, as some players bragged that he does. I'd like to see him implement what the coaches preach to him about his throwing motions and mechanics.

Yep Russell Wilson doesn't do any commercials at all... As for Luck, nobody would want that neckbearded caveman looking fucker to do a damn commercial for them but it does seem if there are a few examples also on youtube.

Young Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson, and young Tom Brady did not make nearly as many commercials or do as many public appearances (I mean celebrity crap and not team-related things). They were busy trying to become better football players, not becoming entertainers and icons.

I get that you will go out of your way to argue with me about everything and that if I had said Cam doesn't do too many commercials you would now be insisting the opposite, but it's pretty obvious that there's a difference between football players who spend their time pursuing fame and football players who spend their time becoming better at their profession. Cam still has the exact same flaws he had as a rookie. Focus less on the bullshit of what the team says about his work ethic and think about whether or not you've seen results.

No I want more from Cam. No question. I think a lot of people do. But you're hanging onto something he said years ago, and ignoring a real transition he's making. Can it be better? Yes. Is it getting better? Yes.

But stop pretending it's all about commercials. It has nothing to do with it. Or arguing with you. You're the only person here who states opinion as fact all the time.

Cam struggles because he does commercials. I guess we know that now.

Again, what transition? He has the same flaws he's had since his rookie year. Regardless of what the team says or he says, where is the actual evidence that he has been working to improve? Where are the results? He wasn't as bad on third downs or in the red zone this year as he was in 2012, but he only got back to where he was as a rookie in those categories. Where is the evidence that he has worked on his throwing mechanics? Where is the evidence that he has worked on his footwork? Where is the evidence that he has worked on reading defenses? We see plenty of evidence that he's been working on commercials.

Lots of people present their opinions as fact, including you, I just have a phenomenal track record while you have a terrible one. And you obsess about me constantly. You do go out of your way to argue against almost everything I say because I define your TBR participation.

I read somewhere (or heard a soundbite somewhere, don't remember where exactly right now) that more than one of the SF offensive linement spent all week watching every play this year of Hardy/Johnson & D-line to figure put what exactly they do with their moves/scheme and developed counters to it. They did a shit ton of homework, on their own to be able to own their opponent. Musta worked, our d-line didn't do shit in the pass rush.

I wonder if our guys do that, whether with coaches or on their own?

Since, you know, they're all about commercials and shit on their own time.

Ok white flag - I don't want to make this about you and me here.

But are you fucking serious???? He's not progressed any?? You bitch about Shula enough to know that he's a major fucking part of Cam's problem. Does Seattle try to make Wilson a traditional pocket passer? Does San Francisco do that with that little f aggot Kaepernick?

Cam's improved with his reads, his progressions, and yes, his overall ability to understand what's going on around him. Is he consistent? No. But how do commercials factor into this? He's played remarkably well sometimes despite working in a largely uncreative offense that limits his abilities, and doesn't use the players it has to the best of theirs.

This has nothing to do with commercials. Stop using something as an example for Cam Newton, while excusing other players for the same thing, please.
