It doesn't really matter if you disagree as your consent doesn't affect reality. He does always throw off his back foot, he can't read defenses, and he is obsessed with fame. Did he spend this off-season working with the new OC or his receivers or anyone involved with the Panthers? No, he spent it making more commercials and having his publicist let everyone know that he was taking classes at Auburn. Did he spend this preseason analyzing his performance? No, he spent it mugging in front of the camera with Joe Adams until Thomas Davis had to come over and tell him to knock it off.

There has been just as much as ever. Reference the Cam-TD preseason exchange as one especially egregious example. Newton hasn't changed. Why people act like someone has become "more mature" when they're on a winning streak is beyond me. The TV analysts say the same nonsensical thing. Cam has always conducted himself this way when the team wins, it's when they lose that he becomes pouty and surly.

There hasn't been. At all. Cam got along with his teammates fine in the first two seasons as well. You're seeing what you want to see instead of what is actually there.

Are you joking? He's getting paid to play football. It's his job to fix those things, he just doesn't care. And this is his third season, so the idea that he hasn't had time is complete nonsense.

    edit:
Cam was also doing a lot of camera mugging on the sidelines Sunday, which you wouldn't have noticed since you were at the game.

Well, in the tradition of the buck stops here, at some point all the offensive coaching staff & Rivera have to either step up and take hold of Cam, or get the blame as well. Bottom line, football IS entertainment. Yes, I would like to see people getting that much money be serious about it and do their best, but in the grand scheme of life, it's a GAME and entertainment, period.

And anything any of us think or say is opinions, period. We're not in the locker rooms, on the practice fields, behind the scenes, etc.

Getting caught up in absolutes is dangerous.

Cam can read defenses. How fast can he go through them? Process what's going on? Sure, he struggles. He's clearly better when he's got less on his plate. But anyone can watch his eyes and see him go through them.

Watch Ginn put the double move on Revis - and watch Cam pump fake it when he does. Anyone notice that? Revis bites. Not that that has anything to do with reading a defense, but it's just saying that Cam has a little more control than we give him credit for sometimes.

He's growing. But it's valid to want to pull your hair out on the inconsistent mechanics. Anyone can watch him and see that they're still there, larger than life. It costs us, and it costs us a lot.
