Game Balls

They had 206 yards of offense for the game. I hope everyone else moves the ball downfield pretty well against us.

 

Bobby Rainey 63 yards on the ground. Granted it's not a lot, but Bobby Rainey isn't a playoff caliber back. They looked a little softer than I would have expected.

 

He got popped a couple of times yesterday and had me wince. He is like 5'8 and listed at 212lb. I'd be surprised if he is even 200lbs. His body would never hold up an entire year as a primary back

 

True, but what gives me hope, is that on both sides of the ball - the in game adjustments have been outstanding.

Time to give Shula a little more credit that he's been getting.

And to not give Cam a game ball is absurd.

Game balls -

O: Cam Newton, Mike Tolbert, Olsen gets consideration.

D: Kuechly, Thomas, and Mitchell. The DL gets an overall game ball.

 

Just saw that TB had 16 yards net rushing in the 1st half.

 

I've always wondered why there are multiple game balls. Shouldn't there just be a game ball? This isn't little league.


I also don't think you have to give to the game MVP, per se.

 

It's like Bubba telling Forest about skrimps, you got your shared game balls, like entire OL, you got your coaching game balls, you got your .......

 

The problem with you inherently wanting to disagree with everything I say just because I say it is that I'm almost always right, so being a contrarian means you're that much more likely to be wrong than your complete lack of football knowledge would lead you to be already. Yes, the scramble was a great play, but Cam had two interceptions including one that was Delhomme-level idiocy along with a third pass that should have been intercepted. He did have two touchdown passes, but each were to wide ass open receivers, once because Tampa completely blew the coverage and once because Ginn abused Revis on a double move. That was not a good performance by Cam Newton.

There is supposed to be one for each of the three phases: offense, defense, and special teams.

 

Rainey only started to get going once the game was already out of hand when it looked like the defense relaxed. Glennon actually did quite well when he wasn't sacked, so that pass rush being effective was critical. Other defensive keys were stepping up big repeatedly in the red zone, first by forcing field goals and then that empty-hand fumble while Glennon was scrambling for his life.
