    He's also made a ton of critical drops. As noted, Steve Smith is even worse. And neither has the ability to take the top off the defense, ala Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, AJ Green, etc. We don't have a #1 WR. We have a bunch of 3s and a couple of wannabe 2s.

    We don't have a single WR who ranks in the top 50 in receiving yards. However, Steve Smith IS tied for third in the league with 4 drops (5 after today).

    Did you see the stat during the game that Carolina is one of 2 teams ( the other being Denver) with 4 players with 350 plus receiving yards?

    Olsen,Smith,Ginn,and LaFell


    edit: I know what you are getting at, but receiver is not a great need in the least.

    Tied for 19th. You don't get to skip seventeen people because you're subtracting 4 drops from the league leader's 7.

    He also has over a 1000 yards and 6 TDs, more than Smith and LaFell combined. I could live with 6 drops with production like that.
