We played a very soft defense at the end. Understandably so, with the injuries, but somehow you're trying to agree and disagree with me at the same time.

I'm saying you be more aggressive when you have the ball and a chance to seal the game. You avoid putting the defense back on the field at all, if possible.

That was my thought. They would have found a way to fuck it up regardless, though. Just cross your fingers that Gettleman has another solid draft in 2014.

You're not understanding me then, because at no point have I agreed with you that there is a reason for a prevent defense.

You're saying understandably so, that we played a soft defense. I simply DISagree with that, and it's fine that we don't see eye to eye on that.

I think playing off, and not getting after them gives them time...and makes our already injured secondary have to cover longer.

I see that as making no sense. WHich is why I said:

One could make that argument, but one could also make no sense in doing so.

If you don't have the players to make the plays, why play the kind of defense that is predicated on them doing exactly that?

    Hide weaknesses, man.

I'm all for being more aggressive on offense too, but the fact is, our defense DID go out there, and we DID play a prevent defense, and did NOT blitz, nor try to dictate the game or disrupt a rookie's rhythm when he had no time outs.

You're not hiding any weaknesses by forcing shitty corners to play tight coverage. You're exposing them even more.

EDIT: You're not hiding. Still getting used to wearing glasses.

Never did I suggest merely playing press. I suggested blitzing more, or attacking more, and if you do play tighter coverage, that does not necessarily expose them more.

There is nothing wrong with trying to confuse a rookie quarterback who was just responsible for two turnovers.

There is nothing wrong with challenging receivers who are beating up on you anyway. There is nothing wrong with trying to disrupt their timing when they have a minute to drive 80 yards with no time outs.

    I don't understand what you're saying.

It looks like you're agreeing with me while at the same time, disagreeing. Are you trying to be silly?

    EDIT-
Just saw your edit. Ok, sorry.

Well, we just disagree then. Not a big deal.

I didn't type "not", which I later edited. That's what I meant. You're not hiding weaknesses by playing tighter coverage. We can't fucking cover.

    Gotcha, I saw that later.

We can't cover though, so it seems that sending extra rushers might have worked, or playing with a more aggressive approach.

We sat back on that last drive, and the more time you give your quarterback, the more time our shitty DBs have to cover period.

That's why I said it didn't make sense.

Interestingly enough, Rivera chides the corners for not challenging more often. I'm curious to whether he had a say in how that drive was going to be defended....

I would have liked to have seen a little more blitzing, but then again that's leaving less guys in coverage. My biggest beef is not going for the first down, in hindsight. The ending felt so inevitable that I didn't even throw anything against the wall.
