Ok, I read your original post wrong. Sorry, I'm half drunk.

Being smart is important there but I don't worry so much about the wondercuck for WRs.

    word.

and it wasnt just the wonderlic, Patterson supposedly bombed the whiteboard sessions in front of coaches; just gave off the impression he would struggle in the classroom. Still, doesnt necessarily mean he's dumb as rocks (to the point that he cant learn the position), but he could be.

Just for kicks- AJ Green was amongst the lower scorers his year (10) Julio Jones (15), Tavon Austin's was one notch below his draft slot (7), Percy Harvin (12), I can go on

I think they way Minnesota will use him, at leas initially, kind of makes that ok. I think he'll transition very well. P99 makes the good point about WRs with shit wonderlick score

the wonderlic is just a general indicator of intelligence/education, and has but limited utility. Football intelligence is not the primary objective of the wonderlic, either. And clearly, AJ Green et al had high football IQ's as they all started multiple years at SEC calibre schools. Patterson was a JUCO transfer that played just one year of SEC ball under a very dysfunctional Derek Dooley...that's a red flag by itself. Patterson would probably have a harder time on the Giants than he will on the Vikings, you're probably right about that. The Vikings coaches cant trust their QB as much as the GMen trust Eli with their playcalling, etc...

The wonderlic is probably more important for QB's and OLineman than anyone else, but its still used because teams are trying to find ways to determine how well prospects might do in the classroom. For professionals in the NFL, an ungodly percentage of time is spent in the classroom, and other than the speed of the game itself, its here that perhaps the most dramatic adjustment has to be made by incoming rookies.

Minnesota woul db be an interersting team if Spielman ever worked up the courage to admit Ponder isn't a starting QB. They have some good players.

As far as Star yep taking the wr would have been stupid but it is Hurney we're talking about.

We have holes but we have more talent than that article gives us credit for. I'd agree that Cam isn't going to take us to the promised land, unless he grows way the fuck up. Which I suppose is possible, but will it happen in a Panthers uni?

It's pretty random, since nobody is really anticipating us to make noise in 2013. I'd understand someone putting an article out like this if we were getting uber-hype. It's sort of like going out of your way to call an average girl ugly.

Shein's analysis was pitifully thin. Agree or disagree with the broad strokes of his comments, his overuse of superlatives indicates a lack of doing the homework.

"Cam, Rivera will never..." Such comments are cost-plus. Either they become true or they don't and the dude making them shrugs and moves on. But voicing a sound opinion based on a real effort at analysis puts the analyst on an island of his own research. Guys like Shein who pose for the soundbite can't take that risk.

I mean, everyone knows the Panthers lost so many games because they kept losing coin tosses.

I do think Cam needs to grow up from his video icon self-image and become the franchise leader. He also needs big time work on his accuracy, which may always be his Achilles heel. I saw some growth in Rivera as the season waned, but his team MUST develop an identity and that begins with the head coach. I don't see the roster as Swiss cheese, though top-shelf talent in the secondary and better depth along the O-line would be nice. Some of those deficiencies can be masked, but not as injuries hit the ranks.

I see the season taking a dog-boned look. Wins at the ends with a stretch of losing in the middle. Rivera has solid fundamentals but he hasn't yet learned to be creative in adverse situations, like with key injuries.

    9-7 or 10-6 is my Shein-like guess.
