Still early, but I give him about a C+ so far. I like most of our FA pickups. I hate keeping Beason over Anderson, though. That's a Hurney-esque move.

Wish we would have lopped off another big salary this year so we can move forward next year with a little less pain.

If he has a good FA class this year it would be like catching fish with yarn and a bare hook. I don’t think he can be fairly judged yet, and maybe not this year.

The next year or two will show us how good he is. When there is very little cap money to go around he will have no choice but to draft well, bring in low cost FAs and not overpay our FAs. No more "project" draft picks or overhyped FAs. No excuses, good teams build through the draft.

    It can be done.

He gets a D minus from me so far. The 2014 and 2015 cap situation have improbably gotten even worse this off-season.

I like what he's done for the 2013 team, but I realize it doesn't help future seasons very much.

Agreed. The team should be fun to watch this season, so there's that.

What, 6.4 Mil in dead cap already next year.

Let me ask this, does Gross have the option NOT to void the contract in 2014? Can he still play in 2014 under that deal and us not have that dead salary?

He was put in a shitty situation and he's trying to field a team next year.

Didnt help Hurney gave up some of his draft pics too.

so how much cap space is actually left? And how much has to be kept for draft picks? What else can realistically be done this year in free agency?
