We signed these guys for peanuts. Lord knows if any of them even count against the cap.

Yeah some of the deals are those vet minimum don’t count the whole amount for the cap number. I think.

We upgraded Murphy and returns with one player, I can't complain about it.

Well we've already established that Ginn is better, and I believe Florence will be as well. But how are you still not getting that there wasn't enough money for even "one damn player who can make a difference"? Carolina had to cut a good player in James Anderson and another decent player in Gamble just to afford all of Hurney's other idiotic contracts.

actually when you look at some of the deals signed by demonstrably better players we could have found a player that would have been an upgrade over any one we've signed.

    We signed so far:

    Derek Anderson 1 yr/ 840 K

    Colin Cole 1 yr/ 840 k

    Drayton Florence 1 yr/ 1.005 mil

    Ted Ginn, Jr. 1 yr/ 750K

    Mike Mitchell 1 yr/ 725K

    Ben Hartsock 1 yr/ 905K

    Captain Munnerlyn 1 yr/ 1.1 mil

Instead of any of the following:

Antoine Cason CB 1 yr/ 1.5 mil with the Cardinals

Yeremiah Bell SS 1 yr/ 905K with the Cardinals

Adrian Wilson SS 3 yrs/ 5 mil with the Patriots

Cullen Jenkins DT 3yrs/ 8 mil with the Giants

Armond Armstead DT 3yrs/ 1.485 mil with the Patriots (the kid was a beast at USC)

Glenn Dorsey DT 2 yrs/ 6 mil with the 49ers

Leon Washington RB/KR 1 yr/ 1.3 mil with the Patriots

Chris Owens CB 1 yr/ 1 mil with the Browns

Tom Zbikowski SS 1 yr/ 715K with the Bears

Terrence Knighton DT 2 yrs/ 4.5 mil with the Broncos

Tom Crabtree TE 2 yrs/ 1.6 mil with the Buccaneers

    Zach Miller TE 1 yr/ 630 K withthe Buccaneers

Chase Daniel QB 3 yrs/ 10 mil with the Chiefs

John Phillips TE 3 yrs/ 5.25 mil with the Chargers

Bradley Fletcher CB 2 yrs/ 5.25 mil with the Eagles

Ryan Mundy FS 1 yr/ 715K with the Giants

Aaron Ross CB 1 yr/ 715K with the Giants

Alan Ball FS 2 yrs/ 2 mil with the Jaguars

Roy Miller DT 2 yrs/ 4.5 mil with the Jaguars

Willie Colon T/G 1 yr/ 1.2 mil with the Jets

Antonio Garay DT 1 yr/ 840K with the Jets

Pat Sims DT 1 yr/ 1.5 mil with the Raiders

Chris Canty DT 3 yrs/ 8 mil with the Ravens

Marcus Spears DE 2 yrs/ 2.75 mil with the Ravens

Benjamin Watson TE 3 yrs/ 4.95 mil with the Saints

Bernard Pollard SS 1 yr/ 2.5 mil with the Titans

So as you can clearly see, there were plenty of guys out there to be had at a reasonable price that would have been better upgrades than what the team spent it's limited funds on.

Most of the names you listed are no better than what the Panthers have, and the ones who are signed with playoff teams. I would have liked Cason, Zach Miller, or Garay but perhaps those guys weren't interested in Carolina.

The premise was that we didn't have money to sign any one other than who we did. Kinda obivious now that wasn't the case. There are more than a few guys on that list who are quite better than who the Panthers have.
