Star and Elam is almost a wet dream.

I like Cooper, but why not trade down in that scenario. Lane Johnson is still available too. Id take him first.

Austin would be fun a hell, shades of Smitty. Harvin is build alot bigger tho.
I think we need a bigger WR if were looking at one in round 1. Still think Allen would be the way to go there. I still dont see Patterson going that early, just too raw IMO. Hunter or Woods would be better in round 2 as well I think. Woods looks like a pro out there, Patterson looks sloppy and unfocused.

CR looks decent value too with Rhodes and Trufant IMO.

We have so many options and ways we could go. Trading down makes the most sense if we can find a partner.

I wonder how true the Barron stories were? Will Campbell get a shot to start.

Interesting that Cal has some decent prospects, Allen, Schwenke (great combine BTW) and Williams, that CR that lit up the 40. You know Rivera had the inside scoop on him till the combine.

Warmack would have been a an All-Pro beast in the Henning offense, but not this one.

That Yahoo! mock is pretty stupid. Mingo going 2nd? Lane Johnson going 4th? Barkley going 9th? That's retarded, retarded, and retarded. The USA Today one isn't bad, but I have to think there's really no chance whatsoever that they take a WR at #14. Patterson will go around there, but not here. How could you take a third WR at #14 with so many other huge needs? The BSO mock is surprisingly decent as well, although Austin at #14 is doubly stupid since it's not only unlikely for the team to choose that position but also ridiculous that he would go that high. Then the WalterFootball one is indeed a wet dream. I would immediately buy a Lotulelei jersey.

The CBS football writers have a few mocks just posted.

    Rang: Warmack

    Brugler: Star

    Brinson: Star

    Prisco: Richardson

    Judge: Richardson

    Kirwan: Richardson

edit: as far as WR, if we get one I want the guy to be tall. Someone who can go up and get the overthrows.

If Star's heart thing is ok and we get him and Matt Elam I will soil myself. That would be incredible. Not seeing Elam lasting anywhere near that long esp after he ran 4.46 at the cb. I don't see him getting past Baltimore.

Actually think Patterson goes Top 10. If he made it to 14 they would probably consider him. Still CB and other huge needs probably make that unlikely. Agree on Austin - he will go first round but I don't see Top 15. Word is that Lane Johnson is rising but there are at least 2 OT ahead of him. You never know if 2 go real early somebody will probably reach for him.

Still Gettleman did say..."you need TD makers and pass rushers". So you never know.

Patterson is my favorite WR of this draft based on his tape. However, even though I consider WR a need, it's not as urgent as the lines and the secondary. I think I would do nekkid laps around the house if we got Star and Elam. If we passed on Star for anyone else, I think I might slam my head in a car door.

Haha, very true. I hope Star is ok what a bummer for him at this point to work that hard and have this happen. Boy, I guess the combine is important after all.

Elam is small and doesn't tackle well. He has Sportscenter syndrome where he tucks his arm and goes for the big hit, letting guys bounce off and get extra yards.

Patterson has good measureables, but only one year of production as a JUCO transfer. He could go in the top 10, but it would be a pretty significant reach if he does. None of these WRs deserve to go in the top half of the first round.

I can see carolina taking a wide receiver with the 1st pick considering how "deep" this draft is a DT/OL. It may not be a need, but maybe they aren't sold on lafell as a #2. Even if they were sold on the wr group smith is a little long in the tooth for his style of play to be effective that much longer.

If it looks like we can still get good DT talent in rd 2 I'd rather get a offensive lineman (Warmack, Cooper or one of the OTs that may fall) before a WR. There are no WRs that are cant miss. I can't think of many WR that light things up in their first year especially in the Panthers offense
