I guess he could have tried to make pro bowlers out of Jacques Green, Bert Emmanuel and Riedel Anthony and missed the playoffs.

Cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

    OMG, you being serious?

This team has much more to offer at QB, WR and TE than Tampa ever had under Shula. We havent even had FA or the draft yet.

But we also have the horses to run the ball providing they stay healthy.

This team just needs to be balanced and use all its weapons.

You're the one that said we'll make the playoffs with 'the 22nd ranked offense'

Of course I'd rather have the latter - but we need their defense and we will need Dungy to make that work.

    We have Rivera.

Again, I definitely see your point, and I'm glad you're making it, because I would love for someone to come along and open my eyes and make me not hate the Shula hire. It's really been a horrible downer for me.

It's like being impotent in a room full of hot girls in heat. I can't get excited no matter what we do, no matter the draft, because our offense is going to be one note, predictable, and Cam basically lost his QBC.

Say he throws an interception, or he's off his timing, not feeling the rhythm in the heat of a close game - who does he talk to? Shula's too busy trying to adjust, draw up the next play, see what the defense is doing.

    I mean...

This is a terrible, terrible decision. I don't think some here realize how bad this is going to be.

I'm worried this is going to set us, and our QB back for several years. What's even worse, is that SHula didn't care about all that shit, said he was happy just being around the QB and offense. And we had Hue "The Truth" Jackson out there wanting to climb our ship.

    Goddammit, man. Ugh.

Celtic, Shula is a clown, brother.

It was an example of looking beyond the stats.

Did you notice option 2 had 1000 less yards of offense yet had a winning record.

Im not predicting where we'll be offensively or defensively. Just pointing out that Shula worked with what he had.

Keep in mind this shitty offense sent, Dilfer, Dunn and Alstott to the pro bowl in 1997.

Most coaches work with what they have, brother.

A lot of them suck, too. Shula's in that category.

This again, after the many times I've pointed out that top passing teams are often doing it without any first round receivers? And why are you pretending that Keyshawn Johnson was ever a difference making player in the NFL?

Key was a good possession receiver, a hard worker, good blocker, smart guy and a cancer. Not really much more than that. Not enough to turn 22 into 6.

To make the playoffs these days you either need to score around 400 points or get really lucky (Indy). Chudzinski made Cam look much better than he actually is and did a great job overall of utilizing this roster. Throw in that Hue is a much more impressive and accomplished candidate than Shula and it's pretty easy to understand why fans would be frustrated. There's really no reason whatsoever to think Shula will be any good, but it's possible. Unlikely, but possible.

I thought I was making the point that their offense was actually very similar to 1999 even with the Key addition. In 1999 and 2000 they had very similar passing yardage and passing TD's

The point of bringing up Key was that the org obviously felt they were defecient at WR to trade away 2 1sts for him. But he did eclipse the 1000 yards marker twice in his 4 years there. 3 times he was the leading receiver, he had 8 TD's in 2000 but fell short of 900 yards.

Christ people, were talking about the Bucs here.
