    I think it was in the Hurney fired thread but only got a few posts, people were caught up in the celebration

    Woah, I never caught that. For some reason, I always thought that was a JR hire. Not sure why I did.

    I tend to think that article is overstating, though it's entirely possible JR wasn't sold on Rivera but hired him because of Hurney.

    But there were numerous valid reasons to ditch Marty Hurney. And Rivera is still here.

    It makes some sense to me, if only because the multitude of better reasons to fire Hurney have been true for a long time now.


    The strong finish made a difference, but had I realized that Rivera had two years left I never would have expected him to be gone. Cheap ass Richardson was never going to pay two seasons.

    I never realized back then when we kept Rivera just how bad a decision it would be until a few days ago.

    This is a wasted year indeed. Just a waste. I'm scared this could have terrible implications on the future, the players, and why anyone would want to come here as a FA, or stay when their contracts are up.

    Players know when the team mails it in, and the team is mailing it in.
