there was a small part of me that worried that, too.

FWIW, while I expect some changes, I'd expect mostly additions right now. Existing staff, at least higher up staff, generally works through the draft. So while a guy like Marc Koncz (the entirety of our pro personnel department for a while there, before Ken Dorsey) might or might not stay from here on, it's entirely possible that Don Gregory and the other guys stay through the draft but then get moved on.

Interesting point guy being only guy over 50 interviewed. Doesn't really surprised me he was the one hired. I'm not sure JR would hire a younger guy

he had the most diverse background, too. All good, he's got 15 more in him if needed.

Also the only guy that Accorsi actually worked with. But, either way, I'll give Ernie his due. He did well for the team. And while he doesn't get full credit, he helped produce two championship teams for NY.

It's nice that we didn't hire a young guy who could get strong-armed by Rivera. I'm assuming Gettleman will be the final say guy, with Rivera in a semi-cuckold role.

“Whoever comes in (as GM) in Carolina is going to want their own head coach. The owner (Jerry Richardson) didn’t want to eat two years on (Ron Rivera‘s) contract. … From everything I hear, (Giants senior pro personnel analyst) Dave Gettlemen is (consultant) Ernie Accorsi‘s guy. Accorsi recommended him for the job in Cleveland when Mike Holmgren took over. (Gettlemen) is not a self-promoter like too many of these (candidates). He’s a meat-and-potatoes, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. He’ll clean it up fast, and he can work with anyone. You don’t see his name out there a lot or hear about him because he just goes about his business and gets the job done. He’s been a big part of the fabric in the Giants’ front office for a long time. He deserves a shot.”

first sentence is more or less irrelevant for now. The rest of it's good stuff. The buzz on the guy has been overwhelmingly good.

This guy's resume is extremely impressive. He has a tremendous amount of experience and he has a kind face. I think we made a good move here.

if anyone's interested, I mocked up what I would prefer the team do, with some background in what the Giants have done.

Panthers rumors, news, and speculation: Advice

It seems like the Giants' Harriss makes a lot of sense as an Assistant GM, if he's allowed to go.
