If another team Is interviewing and has a genuine interest in Rivera I could see them asking permission to interview him. Nothing is stopping people from asking permission whether is the head coach now or later on this week. Only difference is compensation for him if someone would ask now

    Im assuming he's staying.

Makes no sense not to cut him and have the story get lost with all the bigger names getting canned.

Rivera isn't out of the woods until a GM is in place.

As much as I dislike rivera I'd be cautious about firing him. Alot of competition for coaches right now, and we're in that position for GM.

Which I hope doesn't mean we get Beane.

Good roster for Chip Kelly's system and the absence of a strong front office figure would seemingly put the Panthers at the front of the line for getting him, only they're not looking. Again, Rivera better end up being a long-term head coach to miss out on both Harbaugh and Kelly.

yeah. I guess they meet tomorrow at earliest.
I'm sure things are happening we don't know about, but they aren't in a hurry. I guess that's fine, get it right instead of get it fast.

I'm resigned to the fact Rivera stays but he has to be on a short leash with a new gm coming in. I don't know enough about beane but I really want someone who has a fucking clue when it comes to evaluating talent and is smart enough to not put so much into a position where it's feasible to put a 6th or 7th rd selection in there for a season or so. A good line and scheme can make a decent RB look great

Guess were left hoping Rivera follows the 3rd year rule.

JR propabably doesnt even know who Kelly is.

Beane getting promoted would make Rivera 100% safe. If we do hire someone from the outside, I think there's at least a 50/50 chance of Rivera getting fired.

My feeling is that JR wants to fire him, but he wants to find a GM who he considers trustworthy first. If he can't get Ross or if he isn't comfortable with Gettleman, he'll promote Beane and begrudgingly keep Rivera.
