They're running that read option a lot better lately, it looks decent. Now, that's a 180.

Jason Cole is reporting that Rivera is safe as Head Coach and the panthers will keep Beane as the GM. Thoughts?

And Michael Lombardi said that Rivera would "certainly" be fired. Since Lombardi is almost always wrong, I think that's compelling evidence for Cole. But yeah, I've been expecting this for a long time now. I do not believe that it is the correct decision. I wish the team would make a run at Chip Kelley, although I guess the Eagles would get him anyway due to their owner being willing to pay a lot more. Also, I'm really concerned about promoting someone in-house as GM. This team desperately needs a fresh eye to take a new approach with the roster.

Yeah I don't have much faith in Lombardi's speculation either.

What if Beane was promoted but we also hired a football guy to oversee personnel and let Beane be the mouthpiece, negotiate contracts, etc.?

Don't be such a bitch. I have proven myself far more than anyone else on this board, including magnus. You guys pout and whine and argue with me and I get proven correct over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Constantly wishing I was wrong about things hasn't gotten you anywhere. Maybe you should try getting on board with what I say in the first place.

That quote was posted and discussed here, but it's also contradicted by the facts. What you just posted implied that Rivera went to Chud after the Week 8 Chicago game and asked for Stewart to get the lion's share of carries, yet if you look at the actual numbers you see this:

    Week 9
    Stewart - 10 carries, Williams - 6 carries

    Week 10
    Stewart - 8 carries, Williams - 6 carries

    Week 11
    Stewart - 15 carries, Williams - 7 carries

    Week 12
    Stewart - 8 carries, Williams - 11 carries

The offense hasn't changed, at least not any more than Chud changes it from week to week based on the opponent. Rivera isn't supervising Chudzinski (and couldn't even if he wanted to), and as I have repeatedly pointed out, the offense has not only been consistent in the yards gained per play during the season, but also compared to last season. The difference between the 2011 offense and the 2012 offense is less play-calling and production than it is the number of offensive plays (since the defense isn't giving up long TDs constantly) and efficiency around the goal line.

I don't want anyone associated with Hurney to have anything to do with contracts. But again, this is what I expected. Richardson has a skewed view of loyalty and prefers to use people he likes and trusts rather than run his business like a business and hire strangers who are more qualified and competent.

That quote implies nothing like what you claim. But I know you're not gonna give an inch. Fuck it.

Oh sorry, you're actually right, I didn't read it closely enough. It suggested series by series, but the facts still don't square with that changing either. On the very first series in Week 9, Stewart rushed on the third play and then DW rushed on the fourth play before Stewart came back to rush on seventh play. That continued on the second series where DW's 30 yard touchdown came immediately after a Stewart run. The same thing happened in the second half of that game. In Week 10, they both had carries during the second series and rotated throughout the game. In the Week 11 play by play you again see the two of them both getting carries in multiple series. You see the same thing in Week 12 before Stewart left the game.

So again, what actually changed? Nothing. This is wish fulfillment on your part, where you were frustrated with Chudzinski (understandably) and wanted someone else to overrule him, so you imagined that someone was doing so once the team was getting results you liked. Chud does a lot of stuff that is annoying, and it would be great if he worked to curb some of that.

    nothing on this then.

    also -

this doesn't make any sense. I don't know how he "couldn't" walk down the hall and say, "we need more downhill runs." But that's the crux of this thread, that a superior can't possibly delegate to his direct report, apparently because of his personality and/or supposed lack of knowledge of the offense (OMG I DIDN"T SAY EXACTLY THAT YOU FUCKING LIAR!!!111)
