Here is a hypothetical question: if Cam continues to play at the same level he has thus far, or possibly a little better or worse, AND Carolina has the #1 pick in the draft, would you use it on another QB? If so, who do you pick?

personally, no. I wouldn't pick another QB unless I could get very similar value for Cam in return.

As for what I'd do? I'd trade the fuck out of it for current and future picks.

Not unless you could get a substantial package of picks from someone else for Cam.

So, does that mean that you guys think Cam can lead this franchise going forward, based on what you've seen? I'm not saying I agree or disagree, just a discussion.

I wouldn't say Cam will do much of any leading, but he can be a good enough quarterback, with a better team around him, to remain contention and possibly win championships.

He's talented enough, and the difference between he and starting over at the very least isn't worth the difference you'd lose dropping a former #1 for something like a 2nd rounder. Again, and like P99 said, if they could give up a trade equal to a high 1, at least top ten, I'm OK with it IF Barkley's the next great thing.
I think there are some good QBs coming out, but nothing I want to further fuck the franchise to get.

But, keeping Cam and at the least getting half of what the Rams got (something like the future 1 and current 2) to move down a few spots would be perfect. Even what Cleveland got, if you make that a 2 instead of a 4, would be passable if it were to go down one or two spots. Team's down two picks in that draft already, and will need them, so picking 3rd instead of 1st, having a pair of high 2s, missing a third, having an extra 5 and getting a 7 back would be pretty cool. For the last couple of days, this type trade is all that keeps me going.

We're not even discussing this if Gould misses his FG, so no.

'13 looks like a really shitty draft, so I'm hoping we avoid the #1 pick. I think we will.

Cam can make a play but blows a bunch of them too. Hasn't shown the killer instinct to say the least. Right now, that "can" is only potential. But I wouldn't use another pick on a QB. Fix the rest of the team, if he doesn't develop then do what you have to do.

I only wish someone would give a handful of good picks for our first this year, that's my pipe dream.

hard to say. A lot will happen before it'll really matter who looks like that high a pick.

Even though I've seen him play, Barkevious Mingo sounds more like an alt than an actual player.
