Fox went 8-8 last season and that's only because Tim Tebow got him seven wins.

If I recall, a few of those wins were against teams playing their backup QB (edit: when Tebow was QB).

edit: and again, this year he has Peyton Manning at QB, plays in a weak ass division, it's a pretty good situation to be in.

Like Chris Gamble, John Fox isn't fantastic but nor does he suck.

Fox made the play-offs despite having the worst QB in the league... something he has some familiarity with coaching under Hurney

Most inaccurate passing QB, but not the "worst QB" by any stretch of the imagination. Fox was 1-4 with his choice of Kyle Orton at QB before Tim Tebow came in to save the day.

Christ, you crucify Gamble, and you defend Fox?

What about him makes him a great coach?

Those are certainly two different things. Fox's style limits the upside of offenses, and his style is predictable, but it also limits the down years. Not unpredictably, he was .507 here and is .506 career.

Maybe, given that it's better than floundering, people made too much of the consecutive winning seasons thing, because it is indeed better than this. But it's hard to argue the goal is only 50%.

Denver had the second worst record in the league, they picked right behind the Panthers. Fox went to the the play-offs with Tim Tebow, Rivera had Cam Newton and didn't make the play-offs… The GM for Fox went and got him Peyton Manning and they are leading their division. Rivera's GM got fired.

We let the wrong guy go. I think if Hurney was still here and this team was winning, maybe an argument could be made Fox was the problem here, but he wasn't. Anyone that thinks Rivera is a good coach should think Fox is a great coach.

Tebow wasn't the worst QB in the league last year? That's what you're going with?

    ok

I'm saying that John Fox would have had a top ten pick (they were being discussed for the #1 overall during their bye week) if Tim Tebow hadn't come along and saved his ass.
