It would be nice to have a head coach in the intelligence business

This is an important point, and not just limited to Cowher. Not only do Hurney's cap shenanigans hurt the team's ability to add talent now, but they're such that it would take one year of scorched earth with maybe 50% of the team's money tied up in dead cap hits and maybe half the roster being minimum salary players to get out from under the future financial obligations to the point that any experienced head coach would want to come here. Because of the contracts that have been handed out, a new guy can't come in and reshape the roster without going to such drastic measures, so let's hope that Rivera suddenly becomes a lot better.

It sounds like Cowher is perfectly comfortable doing TV until Coughlin retires.

They have a winnable game then the bye week.. if they show up totally unprepared following the bye and totally implode down the stretch I could see Rivera gone..

Yep he signed a 4 year deal that pays him 2.5 mil a year. If they continue to suck I could see Jerry firing him and Hurney .
