Any value in discussing the difference between this win and the loss last week? Coaching? Execution? Game Planning? Mojo? Intangibles? Quality of Opponent? I know this stuff can be discussed ad nauseum...

purrs, i meant we should have run a qb sneak like 10 pages ago. looked to me like it was a gimme. was cussing because you could tell the way cam was leaning back he wasn't gonna sneak it, and it was there for the taking.

execution was definitely better, for whatever reason they felt comfortable running the ball (having Stewart helps but it doesn't help all 200 yards worth), and the Saints didn't stack like the Bucs did (Barron for instance wasn't good in coverage, we just didn't make him pay enough).

Saints also don't have as good of coaching, but then again we've played them close at times in the last year (first 6 quarters of the series were 54-44 in their favor, not awful against a deep playoff team, we just went to shit after) with them at full bore.

    good looking out. Interesting.

    so, PFF.
O: Newton threw 18 passes, 14 completed and one dropped. QBR 149 against the blitz.

D: Gamble gave up one pass for 4 yards (against Sproles).
Team held Brees to 2 passes of 20+ yards.

CJ, 4 hurries. Alexander 4 hurries, too. Hardy was tight against the run again.

Only 10 blitzes, 20 total hurries against Brees (not necessarily blitzes).

Regarding Gamble, other than the Sproles catch, I only saw them target him one other time and that was a nice breakup in the end zone against Jimmy Graham.

Did Stewart re-injure himself in the game? I read that he was held out of practice today and that his status for Thursday night is uncertain.

My guess would be they want to go easy on it, Stew also as a record of playing w/o practice.

Alexander really has been a pleasant surprise to start the season.
Whats he got, 3 batted balls already?

That was a great play by Gamble on Jimmy, or maybe just lucky, it looked like he got a fingernail to it.

But why did we leave jimmy free at the line all the time, that was just plain weird.

Seems to me LaFell and Hardy are stepping up in their 3rd years too. Thats really nice to see. Its also nice to see Munnerlyn not starting at #2 even if Norman is giving up some plays in the pass right now.

And i know Purrsy cant stand Godfrey but i think he has been pretty damn solid thru 2 games this season.

Nakamura is the only guy i have concerns with right now on D. Just not physical enough on the blitz for me. Ive seen him run straight into a blocker he should easily be avoiding and then he struggled like hell to get titch Brees down. Blitzing is definately not his strong suit right now.

With Gamble back to form for 2 years now and some beef at DT finally the defense overall is very encouraging for the year ahead.

Looking a getting lots of production from this draft class too. If/when Adams finally break one im gonna get really giddy about this teams future.
