    Contract year?

The thought of lounging around on a stationary bike collecting salary a few more years motivates him to gut it out for a few weeks. He gets a deal, back to the SOP.

I heard that Otah had actually been spending a lot of time at the Panthers' facilities the last couple of months, but have no info about his health status.

I feel the same way, but buy into the thinking that he's gone because Rivera doesn't want him around.

Which I'd fine with if they had an answer at RT.

or, it could just be conditional on whether they give a pick or not. I doubt it's that complex a deal, they just wanted rid of him, so that it would escalate? I don't know. It's probably more likely we get a pick if he's rostered, and don't if he isn't.

    Yeah, that's what I'm guessing.

I don't mind the Otah trade. Obviously there is a large discrepancy what we gave up to get him and what we got for him. Kalil aside not a ton of us are certain this team will make the playoffs even with Otah. But let's say he plays 12+ games this year what do you in the off season?Pay a high price for someone who at this point has played in 4 of 35 games? It'd be a tough call because talent is there but we have continuously made arguments against this line of thinking. See Dan Morgan. Hurney is probably just preventing himself from repeating past mistakes.

Hurney seems to take a year-to-year approach to building a roster. The elite GM's seem to look at things in three or four year segments.

I don't know I'd say that. The 07 draft specifically was very forward looking. It's all this coordinator and coach change that's fucked some things up, like drafting for some reason 3 QBs in two years and 5 WR in three.
