In looking at the list of free agents this summer in the NBA I am not sure any of them would really help the Bobcats. Anyone else disagree? I know they have trouble competing for free agents but I am not sure it matters this year anyway.

I guess I should have worded that better. When I said help I meant give them long term benefit. The list I saw was full of journeymen and former stars at the end of their careers.

Nope. Sign some vets to one season contracts just to provide some leadership and make the games slightly less horrific, then offer a max deal to Harden next summer.

What do you think of Antawn Jamison on a short term deal?

Depends on how cheap. He is towards the end of his career.

Probably not going to find a superstar to build around, but there are a couple of people that would help us in the short term at least.

i can't believe jamison would essentially give up and join the bobcats. he can still contribute and would be a nice piece for a contender. he'll get better offers from better teams. he's at the point in his career where he either gets his ring or he doesn't. signing with charlotte would be throwing those last years away and saying a championship has no meaning.

He's from here, and has said for years that he'll wind his career up here. He's said it enough for me to believe that it's pretty important to him to do it. I can see chasing a championship, but he's almost to the point where he doesn't have time left to do both.

i guess my point is that i don't think he's at the point where he wants to end his career. he's got a couple years left before he would be at the point of acknowledging it's over.

he's 36, but he's still getting 30+ mpg and has been mostly injury free. dude's a workhorse. his numbers are slipping, but he's still playing at a high level. he's got one last shot of landing on a contender. in a couple years, he'll be able to join the bobcats as a 15 mpg vet and locker room presence.
