It is probably a good rule of thumb to never use a lottery pick on a guy you would not hire to run a register at McDonalds......

If that was the case half the NBA would've never gotten drafted.

Funny how you have to look presentable to hold down a job making minimum wage but when you sign a multimillion dollar contract to play a professional sport you can look like a homeless slob or a drug addict and no one cares.

The thing that bugs me is how talking heads kill Michael Jordan for drafting him when most of them were insisting that MJ should pick him but probably wouldn't.

The talking heads may have said we should draft him but even the most casual fan knew it was a bad idea.

not sure it makes much difference, really. i mean, one would hope the people making the decisions on who to draft have better insight than talking heads and fans. i wouldn't go to a doctor that asked me what i thought he should prescribe for my ailment.

That looked like it was a terrible draft then, and it ended up being a terrible draft years later.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_NBA_Draft

The best player in that draft was Rondo, who fell all the way to 21, so I can't kill MJ for that. The only guys that may have altered the course of the franchise drafted after Morrison but still in the lottery were Brandon Roy, who was and summarily became a health risk, and Randy Foye and Rudy Gay who would've made the Bobcats marginally better.

If they selected Rondo they obviously would've been best off, but so would 20 other teams.

    That draft blew donkey balls.

yeah, not a ton of major impact players, but certainly had guys that were better than morrison. ronnie brewer, daniel gibson, jj redick, paul milsap, steve novak, sefolosha, lowry... not franchise guys, but guys who will have long nba careers.
