To be honest there are so few really good centers in the NBA these days that a guy Bizmack's size might be OK. Other than Dwight Howard who out there is going to change a game from the 5 spot?

I think that there are enough examples of guys with close to Bismack's size having success to say that his size isn't in and of itself a real concern. I'm more concerned about his toughness. People his size who have had success have been tough guys. He's not. He's got to get tougher to be successful.

you got howard, bynum, hibbert, jefferson, bogut, gasol, chandler, horford, jordan, cousins, perkins, gortat, hawes, lopez... even old dudes like dalembert and camby can still hold their own. those guys aren't all world-beaters, but they all are certainly capable of playing the position.

you don't need your center to score 30 and grab 20 rebounds. you just want to make sure they patrol the paint, clog the lane, affect shots at the rim, box out and finish of the defense by getting the defensive rebound. on offense, you want your center to set good picks and have some ability to either pop out or roll to the basket. grabbing offensive boards is always nice. being able to either step out for a mid range jumper or having some low post moves is definitely a plus.

A guy Bizmack's size could probably defend all of those guys, except maybe Howard. Except for Howard none of those guys are going to carry their team to a lot of wins. The real key is whether or not Bizmack develops into a good defender like he was billed to be.

If there were guys like Kareem still playing center in the NBA then it would be a huge concern.

I have no concerns about Biyombo's ability to defend the 5. What would worry me is him being a complete zero on the offensive end, since right now he can't even catch a pass.

True but there have been a lot of guys over the years who have been effective as purely defensive centers. Assuming he is the future for us though it goes back to my earlier point about needing a 4 who can score. If our 4 is a stiff on offense then it really limits us to being a perimeter offense.

Looks sort of like Adam Morrison, but it's Pistol Pete.
