It's usually a bad idea to trade future picks, but it's indefensible when you're a young team that's still building.

Depends how highly we rated him, doesnt it?

Id like to know if this was the same guy they were trying to trade up for yesterday.

It was funny yesterday when some reporter said "tell us about him" about the D2 player. But damn, who was the asshat that asked about Jenkins, really?

No. If you rate him that highly then you take him with a pick you already have. Hurney has repeatedly traded future picks to get players and every single time it has been a disaster. Now a 3rd won't be as painful as the 1sts and 2nds, but it still hurts your team. At least this year's third was spent on a guy they already knew could play.

The Panthers had pick #104 and could have taken him there. It doesn't matter if he was rated as a first round pick, you don't trade future picks when you're a rebuilding team. Honestly I'm shocked that you would even ask this given how thoroughly Hurney has proven what a mistake it is to do so. The Patriots & Eagles trade picks now for better picks in the future. The Panthers & Raiders trade picks in the future for worse ones now.

At least we won't be changing his position ala armanti Edwards. That trade should have cost him his job alone.

You're saying stupid things because you're clouded with your seething Hurney hate. While it's fair to bring his past up as a part of your argument, it's equally dumb to say teams don't trade up if they want to win or rebuild.

Teams trade up all the time, and a part of that cost are draft picks. When you're rebuilding a team and a player is available that you really want and think can help you win games, you make the trade. Especially when the chances of the lower draft picks sticking are iffy.

BTW, the Pats traded UP twice this year.

[IMG] Please do not post unless you understand what is being said. No one said you should never trade "up," I said that rebuilding team should never trade future picks. And for the record, the Patriots did not trade any future picks. I don't think they have ever done that under Belichick.

Understood, but the point remains the same. Plenty of teams do. The fact that you prance around and pretend Hurney is the only GM in the world who does this is old. It's well documented that you hate him. Now shut the fuck up about it, and stick to telling us how awful all of our picks are and why Hurney was wrong to pick them.

Everyone is tired of hearing your shit about him. A lot even agree with you. But it's just old, and so far we're looking like we're pulling in a good draft. Your hatred isn't changing that.
