Still not 100% sold on Rivera. I did warm a little though.

We should see a lot of improvement just from getting guys back from injury and a full off season in our defense.

I agree with our D still needs more talent, especially that back 4, CB in particular.

Any chance we see Sherrod Martin at corner? I know he was projected to CB coming out in the draft?

Also, can someone tell me if our defensive scheme with guys healthy can compensate for 1 bad CB?

Martin could play at corner, or Pugh. Hogan will make a difference. I think more focus from Rivera, and certainly an upgrade with Steve Wilks, would make a difference.

Scheme wise, maybe, maybe not. We played far too much man last year though. That shouldn't continue. I do know that we'll have improved safety play, and that will help.

True, although Godfrey is still back there getting huge money to be a fuck-up.

Spending alot of picks filling holes trying to build "OUR" team.

Rivera needs more time until he can have the luxury of reacting to how other teams are building theirs.

I'm all for building our team and not giving two shits about how others build theirs. I think you have to be cognizant of what their strengths are however, and be able to defend against it.

My beef with Rivera is gameday.

Fair enough, but not horrible isn't what I'm looking for - especially when we went into lots of fourth quarters with leads.

Either way, new year new slate. I'm excited.

That, the former is more poor D, some rookie QB play and horrible ST.

Both (edit: all) should improve this year but I'm not expecting it to really reflect in the W-L record. I guess I could be surprised.

gameday adjustments (or the lack thereof) was a problem for our DC while he was in Philly, too. Hopefully, Rivera being more involved with the D will help.
