yeah. the $6.4 hit in 2014 would really hurt. i was simply pointing out the options based upon his deal.

Sure, and good point about the June 1st thing making it more palatable for the team even though it shouldn't since splitting the amount between two seasons doesn't actually make it any smaller.

I was being sarcastic when I said we might draft Richardson. Surely we have enough at running back with what we have. I would hope they move Stewart and get something decent for him. DW with Tolbert to back him up should be plenty.

DW it would count 8.95 in '14 and 9.95 in '15. It's not like we expect him to be entering his prime, I can't see doing it.

Doesn't mean we'd have to take the RB this year at 9, but the guy seems like a pretty special talent.

    Btw, nice job Marty.

It made no sense to draft Stewart when we had DW waiting to take over. It made no sense to sign DW to a big contract when we had Stewart ready to take over. It makes no sense to sign Mike Tolbert when we have two first round picks on the roster at running back. It would make no sense to draft Richardson this year, so it probably will happen.......

Expect the unexpected. Actually, if Tolbert is gonna play at FB and serve as defacto #3 RB (TB?), signing him is justifiable. Ditto if Stewart is going to be traded.

As far as trading the pick to someone needing a RB, if he falls, not gonna happen. No one close behind us is a threat to take one, not having Hurney as their GM.

It makes no sense as long as everyone stays healthy. Injury history and NFL trends to 2 back systems, elongating RB careers makes the decision more bareable.

Delo may be creeping up in age but he isnt showing it on the field, still looks like a young lad with plenty of tread on the tires out there. Our backs simply arent taking the pounding of say an Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis type back.
Add in Cam and Tolbert (FB) and that should only help the health of all involved.

Do you guys remember the days when we didnt even have Stephen Davis, we struggled mightily without having a premiere back for years. Seems now we are a little spoilt with all our options.

Id rather have it this way than go back to the days of yore.

Ive always felt the most important positions were QB and RB for a successfull franchise, weve got that in spades now and i wouldnt trade it for anything.

We do not run an offense that asks the rb to carry the ball 40 times per game any more. We do not need the kind of depth we have at the position.

We need the depth at RB, its about the price you pay for that debth.

How much are we paying next year for Delo, Cam, Stu and Tolbert.

Yes, choices are probably going to have to be made in the future.

Sharing the load means Delo could see out that contract, you know Marty will probably find a way to extend it in 2-3 years. Rather than focusing on yards and years, think carries and average yards per carry.

True. The first round picks and huge contract no longer make sense for an offense centered around the quarterback.
