even if its a good possibility, i wouldnt assume Stew is being moved this year were Tolbert to be signed. Rivera has already mentioned the need for a 'scat' back, and maybe Tolbert fills that role and Goodson gets sent packing. too early to say at this point.

Maybe they think "fuck defense"..were set with guys returning from IR and are gonna load up on offense/special teams. Maybe trade Stewart and 1st's with the browns to get Blackmon. Doubt they could trade Williams (unless Denver bit). But trading willams if possible, starting Stewart and another RB (lamichael James), starting Tolbert at Fb would be awsome. But unlikely...

That is what I was thinking. Maybe we could throw in Jeff Otah as well so Fox could have the first round of that draft.

Could just be a straight replacement for Goodson and starting FB over Brockel.

Another addition to special teams too.

Certaintly looks like a move to suggest Stewart could be traded draft day.

However, Tolbert isnt a #1 back, so maybe were just taking advantage of a weak market at RB with a player we are very familiar with to add debth at RB/FB and special teams.

Love the move if it happens, i was thinking Hester would be a possibility with Rivera before FA started, didnt think we'd have a shot at Tolbert.

Hurney looks to overload on his team's strengths, while completely ignoring it's weaknesses. It's a cutting-edge approach. How the fuck are you gonna stop four running backs + Cam?

Id hate to do that, are Kirkpartick or Jenkins that much of a step down from Claiborne.

Maybe Clevelands second first or early 2nd rounder more likely.

I could see them offering Stewart to move up for Kalil tho, i can just imagine Marty nutting over him after how well Ryan has worked out here.

Plus you gotta consider the value of Stu in this flooded RB market, could we even pull off a late first rounder for him?

Denver has the #25 pick, might be too much for them to give up. Gotta hope Foxy pushes that one thru.

Maybe a straight trade with Pitt for Wallace? Would that even be possible and why would Pitt want to do it, not unless they dont want to pay him at all. Then of course we'd have to find the cap space for it, not likely but interesting. Fits the mold of FA's were looking at age wise.

The call on Stewart was made when Hurney gave Williams his millions. And Goodson fumbled his way out of Carolina's long term plans. The team is now looking at Tolbert as a value add so they'll have options when it comes time to cut with Stewart.

Hurney's dealings with the Peppers situation (whether you think JR was involved or not) may resemble what he does with Stewart. The scenario isn't identical in that the Panthers wanted to keep Peppers and basically "paid" the price of gambling against his leaving by refusing to trade him for less than two first round picks. But I think Hurney will let the market come to him for Stewart, as opposed to actively shopping him. So I don't think it's in Hurney's nature to trade an established asset for draft position. Maybe for a pick, but again against the nature.

I predict Hurney plays this out with Stewart, either for a contract beneficial to the Panthers or to let leave in free agency. I don't think Stewart will be traded.

The smart thing to do, if he learned anything from Pep, would be to trade him while he has value to us, that would be right after Tolbert signed or Draft day.

But yeah, if history repeats itself, we'll just let him walk when the contract expires and pray for a 3rd or 4th round compensation

Or we could go full retard and sign him up and spend 100 mill splitting carries between 3 backs and a QB, then when Newton hits FA time we can have a 250 mill dollar backfield.
