Gregg Williams will probably get suspended, but I doubt anything happens to the Saints besides fines.

Patriots lost a 1st round pick in the Spygate scandal. Saints might lose next years 1st as well.

Any players get injured vs. the Saints? Talk of lawsuits.

That might not be a useful precedent for this situation. Spygate was a blatant cheating issue.

    NY Times has something.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/03/s...s-had-bounty-program-to-injure-opponents.html

    An excerpt:

This seems to me to be a grievous transgression on Payton's part. How can they just slap his wrist for this? If it were my call, this would bring serious suspension time into consideration.

That's absurd. Spygate directly affected the integrity and outcomes of the games. This kind of bounty shit has gone on throughout the history of the NFL and has never been penalized that harshly.

Yeah, the coaches are the ones who could get fucked.

The investigation identified one team. Bounties have been there for performance items like ints, forced fumbles, sacks etc. There likely were even some pots for big hits, but this Saints program had stated incentive to intentionally hurt players, was endorsed by team front office types all the way to the GM, and the org lied during the investigation.

Fining players for hard hits with no penalty called is a fairly new thing too.

That fact that a person outside the locker room, even the organization, is involved, elevates this to a whole other level.

ESPNs John "The Professor" Clayton says penalties will dwarf New England's Spygate penalties.

I'm all for hard hits and such but purposely trying to hurt someone is fucked up. I mean tackle him but trying to take someone's livelihood is pushing it
