Jimmie Johnson's titles tainted

Chad Knaus and the #48 team are the hands down winner of the "Biggest Cheaters" award in NASCAR. Knaus was fined $100K and Johnson was docked some big points for more infractions at Daytona. Kinda makes you wonder how many points JJ won on his way to all of those championships with a geeked up car.....you know NASCAR doesn't catch every Knaus trick. If they know 100% that they would get caught they would quit trying. A roll call of Knaus' other cheating episodes:

• October 2001: fined $750 for using unapproved window clips on Compton's car.

• July 2002: fined $25,000 for having improperly installed mounting bolts. The team was docked 25 championship points and 25 owner points.

• May 2003: fined $1,000 for using an unapproved air-directional device during the All-Star race.

• May 2003: fined $2,500 for using an unapproved refrigerant.

• March 2005: suspended two races and fined $35,000 because Johnson's race-winning car failed to meet the minimum height requirement during postrace inspection at Las Vegas. The suspension later was overturned, but Knaus was placed on 90 days' probation and the fine stood.

• February 2006: ejected from the Daytona 500 and suspended for four races for an illegal device that raised the rear window to create an aerodynamic advantage. Also fined $25,000.

• June 2007: fined $100,000, suspended for six races and placed on probation for altering the front fender at Infineon Raceway.

Chad Knaus is the man, and every driver in NASCAR wishes his crew chief tried as hard.

 

not tainted at all, pushing the rules is a long standing racing tradition. things are much tighter now than they were in the past.
you would be surprised at some of the cheated up cars that have raced (and won) in the past.



as to who gives a damn apparently by TV ratings more than do the NBA, NHL or except the World series baseball.

 

NASCAR is single-handedly driving the price of fuel up with this unnecessary racing and blowing up jet dryers and should be abolished.

 

Obama could do something about it, but he just stands there.

 

I guess Dan Patrick does....he was talking the tainted record up big time this morning on his radio show at one point saying, "it has to make you wonder if all of those championships are somewhat questionable"

How many other teams were fined and or suspended for chesting during that time? Usually, "everybody does it" is no excuse, but in NASCAR everybody really does it. Hell, if cheating made the big difference in winning championships we'd all be calling Michael Waltrip "five time".
