My comment, which asked a question you had partially answered, was an invitation for you to share more of your superior intellect with us cavemen......

As I already indicated, there are eight really good prospects in this draft and then it falls off dramatically.

I think just about everyone has Luck, Griffin, Kalil, Reiff, Blackmon, Richardson, and Claiborne as their top seven in some order, and most have Coples at eight. No one is obvious at #9.

    Kirkpatrick.

Brockers and Still seem like generic pickups, and I certainly don't want Coples (no more athletic freaks who take years off, please).

I wouldn't mind an OT if one falls to us.

Kirkpatrick is a reach at 9.

The premium position on the board at this spot appears to be the pass rushing DE/OLB hybrids like Melvin Ingram and Courtney Upshaw.

In the trade down scenario I wonder if a 3-4 team that needs pass rush like San Diego or NE would be tempted to move up.

Just noticed in the draft value chart San Diego's 18 and 49 are almost exactly equal to our 9.

DeCastro? I'm on the record against picking guards in the top 10, but the draft falls off so drastically that if you can't trade down I would rather take the sure thing. Upshaw is a good player, but doesn't fit the 4-3 at all. Ingram was a very good college player, but couldn't you say the same for Eric Norwood? Kirkpatrick didn't look that good to me when I actually started watching him, while the DTs are not remotely worth picking that high. Brockers really shouldn't even be considered a DT in my opinion, as I think he'd either be a 3-4 DE or 4-3 LDE. Kendall Wright wouldn't kill me, as he has a chance to become another Steve Smith, but it's certainly not an ideal pick.

That would suck. I hope there is no serious consideration for Still.

I think if I were picking in that spot, with those players off the board, and no option to trade down, I'd look to either DeCastro (just because he's elite) or Kendall Wright. They don't play positions of huge need for us, but those players seem least likely to bust out of what's available, and we cant afford to whiff with such a high pick by reaching for a need.
