    I believe Portland signed him to a 1 year deal prior to the start of this year for ~8 mil

    they renegotiated after they discovered he'd had a "set back" and instead he signed for 1.5 mil, likely the min salary or close to it.

    from what i understand, he's done all the rehab and has tried to get healthy so they're standing by him. but also, after this many problems the 1 year deal feels a bit like his last chance with the team.
