this sure beats being an 8th seed and playing games that actually mean something...

depends on what we get in the draft. I'd personally take this and top four pick in the draft than a marginally better (but still shitty) record and the chance to get swept in the first round and pick 15th or so in the draft.

At this rate they are headed to a very early pick. They made the Wizards look decent. Now that took some doing.

I wonder if Paul Silas is regretting coming here yet? Injuries have made it worse but there is not much on this team that is NBA starter caliber.

I get the feeling that Silas knows what this year is, and is acting accordingly. He seems pretty willing to shuffle things up more (and part of that is out of necessity) to see what he has or doesn't have for the future.

I've wondered if he has some sort assurance from MJ that he won't be fired this season no matter what, because I think the natural thing for an owner to do is to look at the situation and think the coach isn't getting the job done and show him the door. Because of that, in situations like this the coach usually goes nuts when a team is playing this poorly, but Silas isn't.

Either that or he is hoping to get fired so he can get out of this mess. Silas has no chance to win this year so even if he is fired he can walk out with his head held high.

Silas doesn't give a fuck about his NBA future, he's just enjoying this as a coaching experience. He lives up near me and seemed pretty happy before getting the Bobcats job, so I think once this ends he'll just go back into retirement. He's an awesome person which is why I hope this ends up feeling rewarding for him.

I like him too. I have never met him but he did a good job when he was with the Hornets here and just seems like a good guy. I hope this does not go so far south that it turns into a bad experience for him. If MJ fires him because they are losing so much it will be a sort of slap in the face. MJ built this team to lose this year.

so wait, you'd forgo a winning team in order to suck enough to land in the draft so you could pick in the top 4? and then what? do you expect a rookie to turn things around in a year? or is the plan to suck for 3 or 4 years in order to stockpile high picks?

coaches are fired to avoid rebuilding. it's clear, the team is being overhauled, so there's no reason to fire silas and pay him to not coach. they could have phil jackson on the sidelines and this team would suck. this is a throw away year and a rebuilding phase in general.
