    I think we'll draft corner #1.

Rivera mentioning progress of DL at postseason presser. JR dissing Martin means a weak secondary has been discussed. Rivera was openly critical of munnerlyn in preseason.

These guys have been pretty transparent. Prior to last season Rivera talked of tight ends and a franchise QB. Done and done. I think now they target secondary, and they start with corner.

he also mentioned a scat back.

But yeah, while I'd want something at DT openly, corner has a pretty strong shot. Unless we do something nutty like pickup Samuel, who might be cut. Too bad Kirkpatrick was busted with weed, but I've seen Dennard and Gilmore creeping up. It seems silly now but watch some good workouts have at least one of them take his place in the top 15.

Don't forget he mentioned LB also, I believe right after the schedule ended. Related to matching up on TEs, I think.

edit: regarding player rankings changing, yes we have a long way to go before that's settled.

yeah, he saw Jordan Senn in coverage, which was brutal even before NO.

Even Anderson had more struggles in coverage, he looked like he had gotten that cleared up in '10.

Would be a solid second round pick.

I dont have a problem with going corner... but I think a lot of the secondary's problem was not all lack of talent or coaching

I think all the injuries up front hurt the secondary by not getting the pressure from our front 7, it puts more on the secondary for run support and staying in coverage longer... so a new coach, a healthier front 7, and a #1 draft pick should turn this shit around

Rivera On the transformation of defensive tackle Corvey Irvin from last year to this year: Truthfully, I did not know a lot about Corvey from last year, so it was a clean slate. From what I've seen, I've been impressed. I really like what I see from the young man. Other than having watched him on tape from last season and not knowing him personally, I've got to say I'm impressed. I think he is giving us the kind of effort that you would expect from a guy that wants to make a team and be part of what you do. That's what I'm looking for, and I'm real pleased with it.

On what position Irvin will play along the defensive front: He would be big at the three and he seems to be athletic enough to be able to help us at the nose as well. He can play more than one position as far as our defensive line is concerned, whether it's a one or three. I think he has that kind of ability.

i still wouldn't put much stock into what a coach has to say in public.
