Like what? I haven't seen one person point out anything all season where the defense was struggling due to play-calling instead of poor performance.

Please check your facts before posting. The Panthers were 26th in points allowed last season, and they're going to finish 27th this season.

I shouldnt have to state the obvious about all that, I dont need to look it up, I'm quite sure the panthers ranked pretty well on defense despite having to play opposite a shitty offense last year... this year they rank pretty bad despite playing opposite an offense that was anything but shitty this year

so you dont think it's a reflection on the defense that a team's offense goes from scoring 16 TD's to scoring 45 TD's and still you drop from being ranked 18th to 27th despite being on the field almost 3 mintues less per game?

    ok

honestly, while there isn't a lot of talent, and I don't expect it at all, I wouldn't find myself heartbroken to find out that this Thursday, McDermott is out and Spagnuolo is in.

We did some interesting stuff out there, and matchups will always be a problem with as many big receivers, tiny backs, and Jimmy Graham for NO to put up against us, but how many times were LBs or out of place safeties out there against streaking skill players about to score from 50 out?

Part of it's Rivera, but part of it's McDermott. I'm totally willing to give him one more shot, but this isn't good, what we just watched.

    No kidding. Spagnuolo is great.

Again, it's not the scheme that's the problem. Defenders were almost always in a position to make the play all season, they just failed to do so.

I'm on board with the scheme. I like what they try to do - I mean, I don't know if a LB on Colston is ideal, but shit happens. It's the execution that isn't snapping in.

Some of the kids out there that are making plays are guys who weren't on the roster in September, or weren't in our top 53, and I like that, but I can't stand that guys like Martin and Godfrey, who we're somewhat stuck with, have the ability to make some great plays but generally suck.

Back to scheme, I don't think we've gotten 1/4 of what we could schematically or in blitz packages. We got a lot more safe stuff, some man blitzes (that seemed to work) and an occasional zone blitz. I don't think we put out what we wanted to put out, because play wasn't up to it.

Spags is an extreme example, and there's not much reason for Rivera to do it. But it's better than saying Raheem. Spags is the same system. Raheem is a blubbering mess.
