He wasn't listed as a first rounder until a few weeks ago, so I guess you didn't start looking at mock drafts until then. Also, have you actually watched him play? I really don't think you'll be impressed when you do.

In other news, Star Lotulelei the DT for Utah looks pretty impressive as a 3 technique but is supposedly going back for his senior season.

And in other other news, way too many fuckers are doing that Superman bullshit. Utah's awful quarterback just did it.

From the games/highlights that I have watched, Dre Kirkpatrick seems to gamble and take chances a lot. When it goes wrong, it seems to go very wrong.

Is it the system or the player?

I believe that this was an issue with Patrick Peterson last year, as well.

More reading on your two guys from ESPN Insider: Rank 1-5 with 1 being exceptional
    Devon Still:
Versus the Run 2 Gave too much ground when played too high and has a relatively high center of gravity but kept pads down for the most part. Showed that can split double teams when stayed low. Powerful upper body and shed blocks in time to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. Narrow base and got washed down the line by down blocks. Limited range and not going to make many plays outside the tackle box.

Pass Rush Skills 4 Tracked the quarterback and got hands up in passing lanes when given middle draw/screen responsibilities. Adequate club-to-swim move. Stood up as worked upfield and not a powerful bull rusher that can consistently collapse the pocket. Narrow base and can get knocked off course by powerful punch. Not a quick twitch athlete that can shake interior offensive linemen with double moves. Didn't protect legs well and got knocked to the ground on occasion.

Quickness (hands/feet) 3 First step quickness is average for size. Quick enough to establish position but not a disruptive 3-techique that can shoot the B-gap with any kind of consistency. Hands are active but hand speed is just average.

Toughness/Motor 2 Got gassed when forced to chase but above average effort as an interior run stopper. Fights through blocks and off the ground to make play at or behind the line of scrimmage. Tough competitor that doesn't back down and can get under opponent's skin.

    Quinton Coples

Pass Rush Skills 1 "Displays elite initial quickness and lateral agility for his size. Works versus some version of double team attention nearly every down and still very productive as a pass rusher. Shows very good awareness as a pass rusher. Also does a nice job of mixing up his pass rush moves to keep OL guessing. Still mastering his hand usage (especially as a first-year DT in 2010) but his hands are quick, powerful and violent (sack of former Florida State QB Christian Ponder in 2010 is a great example of his upside in that department). "

Versus the run 2 Still learning to play with more consistent leverage. But he has quick feet to establish initial positioning and he displays a powerful upper body. Uses long arms and upper body strength to keep blockers away from his pads. Does a great job shedding blocks and has adequate-to-good awareness when it comes to locating the ball at this point.

Versatility 1 "The size, athleticism and makeup to play multiple roles along the defensive line. LDE in a 4-3 scheme fits him well, but he could also develop into a difference-making five-technique in the 3-4. The bottom line is he can play multiple spots and should become a three-down difference maker in the NFL. "

Instincts/Motor 2 Still developing instincts and recognition skills as a run defender but made strides as a first-year interior DL in 2010. Shows good awareness as a pass rusher. Knows when to get his hands up and does a good job of disrupting passing windows when he can't get pressure on the QB. Plays hard. Impressed by his motor. Clearly passionate about the game.

I started getting an idea for value around Thanksgiving. I've never seen him listed as a third rounder, but I'm also not going to be interested in April where some site had him in November. -to edit, I saw him v/s Ia.

Yeah, no surprise there. He's already graduated since he was redshirted and he has nothing left to do in college. Definitely the right move.

As far as DTs go, I like Jerel Worthy from Mich St. Not at #8, but in a trade down scenario he makes alot of sense. Watched both Wisconsin- MSU games and he was pretty stout in the middle. Very thick lower body, not a great interior pass rusher but holds up well vs double teams and has some quickness and ability to penetrate.

Right now, I'd have to say Blackmon or Coples or trade down.

Blackmon won't be there and any DT in this class would be a HUGE reach at 8 or 9. DT is much better value in the second round.
