A playoff would be a win-win-win situation. 99% of us get to watch a playoff, Jim Delany can still go to the Rose Bowl, and you can still watch the potato bowl.

It is. No one gives a flying shit about the college basketball regular season, and few even care about conference tournaments unless they need to win to get into the NCAA. Throw in the fact that the "best team" very rarely wins the NCAA Tournament and it's an exciting event that nonetheless does a hell of a lot of damage to college basketball.

I've said before that I'd rather see the top two teams after conference tournaments play each other in a best of five, then let the rest of the country play in the NCAA tournament.

March Madness sorta proves my point about needing to have a football playoff. The entire country is involved thru-out. Excitement, intrique, underdogs, strategy: You've got it all. Everyone gets their shot. A selection committee seeds the tournament, and (shocker), the seedings are based on the results of the regular season. Just like football, you've got to schedule some top teams (& build a resume) to be selected for the tourney. All conferences have teams involved, so there's no talk of unfairness because of 6 major conferences having a monopoly of sorts in most of the proceedings (which seems slightly illegal) but is allowed to continue, but for how much longer. In your world, I guess a team like Butler doesn't stand a chance.

Actually it proves the opposite, but again we have established your level of difficulty in understanding absolutely anything. Is it not true that few if any really care about the college basketball regular season? Sure it is. Is it not true that few care about the conference tournaments except if their team needs to win to gain entry into the NCAA tournament? Sure it is. Carolina hasn't won the ACC tournament and the NCAA tournament the same season since 1982, but fans don't care because the NCAA tournament is all that matters.

Yeah, and there's still tons of bitching about who gets in.

Completely wrong. Strength of schedule only matters for the teams on the bubble. The top teams don't have to play anyone if they don't want to, which is why Duke almost never plays a non-conference team at their place (they use neutral sites). San Diego State played a crap schedule and got a #2 seed because they beat the crappy teams they were supposed to. Memphis under Callipari had top seeds for years by beating up on Conference USA while playing weak non-conference schedules.

Every time you post you come across as more and more ignorant. How could you watch college basketball and not know that there have been tons of complaints about the big conferences getting most of the spots in the NCAA tournament while the "mid-majors" get left out? There is a huge controversy about that pretty much every year. Who doesn't know that? You honestly never heard any of the bitching about how many spots the Big East got and how few the Missouri Valley Conference or Horizon League received? Many analysts said that Butler had to win their conference tournament just to get in last season, which they did. Like I said, every time you post you do nothing but show how little you know about college athletics.

Boise State would probably be playing LSU for the national championship if they had just beaten TCU. No one robbed them of their chance, they lost on their own. And no, Butler shouldn't have been playing for the national championship because they weren't even close to being one of the two best teams. Teams from big or small conferences should prove themselves by having the best regular season, which means beating quality opponents. Right now a mediocre team can win the national championship in college basketball by playing an easy regular season schedule and then getting hot during the tournament. That does generate excitement and interest for the NCAA, but it's not right.

Please just stop embarrassing yourself by posting about this. Every time you do, you say something completely wrong that just undermines you even further.
