Not sure... you can have meant 2 different things.

    1. The team name will change
    2. The team's revenue is fucked because of this deal and they won't be around long.

I think the owners should have held out for a lot more imo.

I read where the lawsuit the players had brought "could" have cost the owners 1.3 billion dollars.

I am not even sure who made out in the deal. From the little I've read no hard cap so what's changed?

All the details haven't been worked out yet. I know I am going to have a hard time watching the NBA. I was finally watching a little here and there at the end of last year, all of that's gone now. I just don't like the product as it stands now and can't stand how the players act now.

I do like the part where a team can terminate 1 contract. From the little I've read the team can terminate 1 contract over some period of time? Mike Millers contract in Miami was brought up. I guess if a player who is making large coin isn't performing the team can cut him outright? Like you said I just don't like the product that's out there. I don't like seeing players with as much pull as they have. I can't stand Kobe but would welcome him 10x over LaBron as Kobe gives it his all night in and night out with his killer attitude. LaBron for all his abilities doesn't have that killer instinct

I loved the early 90s NBA. It was nice to actually know players on all teams and you actually knew who they were and where they came from. They seemed to give it their all and was all about team at least 80% of the time.

I was watching a rerun of the 1993 hornets vs. knicks in the playoffs and that was some good stuff.

They really need to cut out about 4-8 teams to start with and have a hard cap. Anything after that would a bonus, but those two things certainly would peak my interest in the NBA again. Of course I do realize there is a good chance that Charlotte could be one of those teams cut out if done.

i think the bobcats are f'd. unless the owners share more tv revenue, i don't see how anybody will be interested in a team that doesn't make the playoffs in a town that is more interested in the success of their college team(s).

jordan doesn't have deep enough pockets to float the franchise, imo. there's a reason he was one of the holdout owners.

it's weird that you'd suggest cutting teams when your favorite era of nba ball was the expansion boom of the early 90's. charlotte, miami, minnesota, and orlando all came into the league in 88 and 89. they started swallowing up top picks by the early 90's and thereby robbed those picks from established teams. toronto and vancouver came into the league in 95 or 96. and sort of perpetuated that, to a degree.

personally, i think the bulls (and jordan) benefited greatly from the watered down talent pool, but that's a different topic.

i don't know if the nba needs to contract, but i do think they need to vet owners a little more carefully. they need more people buying teams who are independently wealthy and just want to own a team as a status symbol or because they love the game. people who are severely leveraged or count on a team as an investment probably don't make good owners. the need to be profitable and the desire to win are not necessarily compatible.
