And with Bakers inconsistent punting yesterday it looks like they chose the wrong one to axe.

again the idea to get rid of Kasay wasn't a terrible one, maybe one they could've handled a bit more delicately. Mare, contract especially, was a bad choice. At this point, sign someone who can kick, let Mare stay on coverage, and deal with it all again next year.

They called him the night before to say they were going to look for someone, and if they found him they'd release him.

I just do not see the logic in cutting Kasay so we could sign Mare. Mare has never been as good as Kasay at field goals and he is not a whole lot younger than Kasay. That back up linebacker that holds the final roster spot is not doing us as much good as keeping Kasay and using a kick off specialist would.

I heard JR say on TV that Kasay did not have the leg to make field goals any more. I wonder what he thinks of Mare?

If he actually said that then he truly is retarded. Kasay is better at 50-53 yard field goals than Mare.

It'd be my guess that JR is fucking furious.

I worked inside the ropes at training camp from '06-'08. There's something not quite right about that operation. It's hard to explain. And this was before JR essentially fired his sons, the mass exodus of assistant coaches, the Peppers situation, etc. I think there's something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about yet.

Biggest mystery to me is why Hurney has kept his job in the midst of all this other turmoil. I guess he's JR's confidant.
