The following people wish to disagree with you:

    Len Dawson
    Jim McMahon
    Doug Williams
    Jeff Hostetler
    Mark Rypien
    Trent Dilfer
    Brad Johnson
    Eli Manning

Only 28 quarterbacks have won a SB and here is about 30% of them.

Television rating are a much better indicator of the product you're putting out, because it's not effected by the economy as much as PSLs or tickets. Also, the game on TV is a much better product than just about any live venue, and television ratings are up.

There are only 3 QBs on that list that played in that are relevant to this.

Dilfer- Yes, he had mediocre talant, but his defense was loaded with talent.
It would take far more than an elite DT to be added to get our defense close to that good.

Johnson- Basically the same as Dilfer. Both Dilfer and Johnson won in a much more physical league than there is today. There was more emphasis on the run as well.

Eli-21 tds and 10 ints, I think Eli was/is better than mediocre.

All of the others are in a completely different era, so it's hard to compare.

You must have forgotten about the 25 picks Eli threw last season and his career 80.7 passer rating.

As for the rest, they're not hard to campare, they were mediocre in their era.

On the flip side, the same number of guys combined to win 20 (44%) Super Bowls.

    Starr
    Staubach
    Griese
    Bradshaw
    Montana
    Aikman
    Elway
    Brady

Add Rothlisberger to the list and you have almost half of every super bowl (22 of 45) won by nine guys. Sure, you can figure out a way to win one. But to sustain success year after year, the key ingredient is almost always a stud behind center.

Every time you post you add to your impressive list of absurd statements. How can you be a supposed football fan and not know that plenty of mediocre QBs have won the Super Bowl?

Actually they didn't have any "great" DTs. Kevin Williams looked like he was going to be one, but he's just good to very good. Meanwhile Pat Williams isn't even close to "great," he was just a big blob who clogged up running lanes by being impossible to move.

Ugh. Since when do teams get paid extra if they get better ratings? Please just stop posting because you're looking ridiculous and I'm developing an aneurysm.

You undermined your own argument. Bart Starr finished in the top 5 for passing yards only once (4th in '61), and never finished in top 5 for passing touchdowns. Staubach did better, but the only thing he ever led the league in was passing touchdowns in '73. He also turned the ball over more often than the average quarterback. Then Bob Griese clearly wasn't a "stud" passer. He had more turnovers than touchdowns for his career, he had 20+ touchdowns only twice, and he never threw for more than 2473 yards.

Then we get to Terry Bradshaw, who is almost certainly the most overrated player in NFL history. His career completion percentage was 51.9, which was awful even for that era of the game. He also had significantly more turnovers than touchdowns during his career, and most of what success he had came from chucking it up for Swann & Stallworth. After that, Montana, Elway, and Brady are clearly true studs who were the principle reasons why their teams won games. Aikman was definitely not a stud, but he was still "very good." If a QB played that many seasons in the '90s and only threw for twenty touchdowns once, he just wasn't a "stud." He was a great game manager.

oh my god....you look at one word in my post and twist it all to pieces. Everyone of those quarterbacks you list above is in the Hall of Fame. The Pro Football Hall of Fame.
