The injuries on defense are really overstated.

 

Losing your intended starting nose tackle, Pro Bowl middle linebacker, and starting weakside linebacker would badly hamper any defense in the league.

 

When healthy Beason and Davis are our 2 best defensive players. Take the 2 best defensive players off any team, and that team will struggle.

 

Yeah. Only two of those players haven't been here for the past two years.

The only guy we don't have that we had previously is Beason. We've operated without him before and not stunk so fucking bad that we've been deplorable.

yes, it hurts. Sure. But that isn't the only reason our defense is fucking horrendous, as much as everyone wants to pretend that's why.

The season has already been a success simply because we've found our QB for the next 10 years. With a player like Cam, anything is possible now.

 

The defense isn't horrendous. You have been campaigning against McDermott since before the season even started, but you and reality have never been that close. Carolina actually ranks better in yardage than it did last season, and is only slightly worse than 2010 in points allowed, although that can actually be attributed to the special teams scores. Pretending that losing Davis, Beason, and Edwards is "really overstated" just shows how desperate you are to bag on the defense and justify your irrational bias. Just knock it off already because you're embarrassing yourself. Or maybe you can tell us again about how the 4-3 is a better run defense than the 3-4.

 

Isn't it possible that the defense is giving up less yards per game because they are on the field less than they were last year? So far this year, the defense is giving up 6.1 yards PER PLAY. last year, it was 5.1. I don't know about you, but that is a HUGE difference. So looking at total yards isn't really telling the whole story. Besides, the defense is fucking god awful on third down. Now, if we were playing in Canada, we would probably lead the league in defense. But we aren't. and not getting off the field on third down is killing us.

Our defense was on the field too much last year. It's well known. While they weren't good last year, and I said that too, they're terrible this year.

Listen, I know you want to attribute it to how bad Cam Newton is, and then when that well runs dry and you can't say it anymore without looking like a total asshole, you make posts about how really it's because of Chud that Cam is doing well, but the defense is one of the two major factors in why we have a losing season. I know you say our defense is pretty darned good. But you're wrong again. They're a bad defense, and one of the worst in the NFL.

Saying losing one of our guys we signed as a FA is one of the factors in why we stink is retarded. But you've been monumentally retarded all season long. You've harped on one of the only good players we have...you've told the posters here that the defense is actually pretty darned good...you've said the 3-4 defense is known as a better run defense, and have yet to prove it, other than using a post wp posted lamenting BUffalo's poor run defense, and how they wonder if a scheme switch will help, and then saying that "everyone was posting links to prove you wrong, Purr"...you've then keyed in on how awesome Chud is, telling us all that he is the real reason for the offense excelling, desperately and very transparently clinging onto your anti- Cam Newton deal, because for so long you've reminded everyone here what an expert in QBs you are, and yet have been wrong about most of them...

I get it. You don't have an issue with the defense. You think McDermott's fine. You think our defense is fine, that a 34 is a better run defense by design, and that Cam Newton will never be elite, just solid, and that's only because of Chud.

All I've said is that Cam Newton can be elite, and is playing amazing right now despite his shortcomings, and learning curve...that the 43 base defense is a better run stopping D by design and that when people keep saying the defense is playing poorly because of injuries, that it's overstating things, considering we've only lost one player that we've had from last year, and teams all over the league have lost players and still play well...and that I'm not very fond of McDermott, who btw, was abruptly fired from his last job in something that was NOT a housecleaning, because the HC thought the job was too big for him.
