Kalil and Gross can be on the same team, and the longer you get results out of Gross the less tough it will be to eat the rest of that proration. It also hedges around that one remaining year of Otah. My only concern about going that route is getting another high pick into offense when we need defense so badly.

I liked the idea of Mare more than actually getting him. It was about time to start fresh. The problem was giving a kicker that age that much money. Using a 38 year old guy to get you by for a year or two is fine but we're tied to him. Gantt blathers on about Koenen but I don't know how that would've made more sense, it's just different.

You don't pay top dollar for a kicker on a young, rebuilding team regardless of who that kicker is.

I suppose, but I'd rather just close the book on Gross and deal with the rest of that contract. Plus I'm not crazy about either of those guys at RT, and there aren't any great alternatives on defense. I'm not that impressed with Coples, and we'll probably be picking a little high for Kirkpatrick.
