He's been pretty shitty this season, and was grumbling about management.

Even then I'd pick him up. Now that's with the understanding that its for Special Teams/Reserve/Veteran presence. Wouldn't by any means promise a starting role.

    Been there done that

Playing the DB's we have now will pay next season when all starters are healthy and they have a full season of Rivera's defense

Special Teams still suck donkey balls. I'd like him to infuse some talent and leadership there. Panthers have none.

I think he could probably help us. I hated to see him leave when he did and our safety play has been average at best since then.

He wasn't much better, if any, his last season here. He tackles bettern godfrey, et al, but can't cover the slowest TE in the league and has slowed quite a bit. He is a smart player and is good at causing fumbles, but he also doesn't stick his knose out and play as aggresive as he did more than two years ago.

How about as a linebacker or a rover sort of role? I think the Giants recently tried it with Deon Grant. The Heels have also fiddled with a 3 safety look on D at times, and in neither case did it actually work well, but hey, if ever there was a year to throw a bunch of shit against the wall just to see what might stick, wouldnt it be this one?

I'd rather play our youth and make them better for a good run next year. If we were really in contention for a PO run, maybe, but now- no.
