How'd you determine that we run Cam at the goal line to appease JR?

Blowout losses are due to being outmatched on the field. Close games are due to being outcoached. Rivera is in a little deep, I think, maybe over his head. We should find out if he's headcoach material in the next 4-8 games.

no doubt ST is a gaping hole. Gross penalty killed them yesterday. The D getting another team off the field, yeah. They got NO off yesterday once i think, but Brees thrives in that 3rd down shit. They would have had a better shot vs the bears when Cutler was in but their ST gave them such a lead he never had to throw. I think they know the honeymoon is over and they feel the pressure to win. It wouldn't shock me to see them win 2/3 coming up.

I just believe that. I really believe it's politics ball here.

I watch Richardson yesterday drive his cart up to Cam Newton before the game, get off, proceed to speak with him forever, shake his hand and drive off.

He's the number 1 overall pick, and hailed as the "New Hope".

He's the one guy who gives our small market team real credibility with the big networks, and brings all kinds of excitement.

He brings in money from the fans, and has led the way for the fans to jump back on the wagon.

I don't believe the coaches are dumb enough not to realize that we can utilize Cam as a decoy and give the ball to 34 or 28 and get TDs. But we don't.

Cam has had a hand in every TD coming into the game yesterday. He's the goalline back. Every time. We ran with him as the ball carrier out of the shotgun twice in a row yesterday, a show of will. We have great backs who have never showed a lot of difficulty getting into the endzone before.

To me, it just stinks that JR wants Cam Power in Carolina, and the coaching staff are eager to please. I mean, let's be honest. IN light of everything that's gone on w the lockout, with JR talking about the "face of the franchise", no tattoos, no this no that - this is a multi-billion dollar business in which our our sports team owner was considered an eagle with steel talons - we draft this kid with star power, and we're making sure his hand is in the cookie jar every time. D-Will got that big TD on the option, and I believe that was the first TD he didn't throw for or run in? It's working, so whatever...our issues are with the defense and special teams. I can't complain. And yes...I'm a unabashed Cam Newton mark! :p

    This.

I also have a concern that Newton specifically mentioned that he has faith in Coach Rivera, or something along those lines. Makes me think he was ready for questions about it, or that there had been discussion about Rivera among the players.

    It's an issue.

He should've been. He called it.

Thank you, coach. We lost by 3.

I believe so too. I didn't want to say it, because I'm viewed as too negative. But this whole "we really can't stop believing, you have to believe, and we can really be something to watch out for" (Im paraphrasing here) business makes me wonder if Rivera himself is afraid the message is getting lost....

Just a question here, but what would you have said if they/he didn't call it and then got flagged for too many men on the field giving the Saints a 2nd chance now 5 yards closer?

That they should have been better prepared and told the players not to try to get the field goal block team on. But you have to force the Saints to get the snap off. Remember, they have to be set for a full second before they can snap the ball. I don't think they would have had time, but regardless, you force them to execute. Calling a timeout was simply inexcusable.
