Myself as well. The owners are holding fast on this. As I mentioned before 8 NBA owners also own NHL teams and they said they wish they had held out longer with the hockey guys and fucked them deeper. The NBA players are in for a rude awakening.

Hopefully the league folds, and the Hurricanes move here from Raleigh.

Have most people even noticed the league is on shutdown?

That's what hurts the players' leverage more than anything. With football season in full swing, nobody cares about the NBA. There's no pressure on the owners to give in on anything.

The NBA needs a revamp. Maybe this process will yield a better league at the end of the day. They currently have a system were lots of teams have very little chance to be contenders. All the best talent migrates to the big markets and the small markets can only compete if they somehow get very lucky in the draft. I know everyone likes to point out how good the Spurs have been but how often does a guy like Tim Duncan come along? Not only was he a dominate big man for a long time but he also has a low key personality that is happy in a small market. The rule is that Shaq leaves Orlando, Kobe never plays for Charlotte, Lebron leaves Cleveland, Carmello leaves Denver, etc.

The NFL more or less has it right where most teams have chance if ownership and management does its part. Green Bay is a very small market but seems to always be in contention.

one ironic thing is that tyrant stern wants the game globalized. well, all his superstar players are going to be playing overseas making a pile of money. They will be fine. the players union and the owners are pissing all over each others leg. you have greedy players and greedy owners who have no fucking clue how to spend money wisely. if they wouldn't pay 85% of the players what they do, they wouldn't be bleeding money.

They need to correct things to save the league. If missing a season of play accomplishes that then it will be a good thing. If they do not fix things and miss a season then it will go down the crapper even faster than it already is.

Anyone catch the picture of Derek Fisher addressing the media with other "high profile" players behind him. Of course Kobe wasn't there but to his left was Baron Davis in a blue flannel shirt, and to his right was Carmelo in a flannel shirt. Fisher, Ray Allen, and Dywane Wade in suits. I know I am showing my age and this probably doesn't mean a thing but if you want to be seen as a professional and not a thug how about dressing the part Melo and Baron? Reminds me of the picture of the Tar Heels under Matt Doughty days
