the tv market that wv would deliver is a bigger obstacle than their academics. if looking at in regards to the acc, virginia/d.c./baltimore are already represented and western pennsylvania will be soon. what is there to be gained revenue-wise by bringing in wv?

same argument for the sec picking them up. they just don't deliver enough on the numbers ledger. while it would give the sec a presence in that geographical region, tech or maryland would be a far more attractive get for the sec. not that either of those happen. for that matter, i don't know that any of the rumored targets from the acc go to the sec. none represent new markets in tv revenue or recruiting potential.

Missouri to SEC where they will - as one local Baltimore radio guy put it tonight - get curb stomped in football.

This realignment has nothing to do with academics, nothing at all. It's all about money and football. This whole the school doesn't fit due to academic reasons is complete BS.

I can see ND looking towards the ACC though, at least geographically.

Their tv contract is set to expire soon and word is NBC isn't planning to renew. Throw in BC and now Pitt in you've got regional games and Catholic rivalry.

The Pac-12 announces they aren't going to expand (this year). Kind of leaves Oklahoma, Ok State, Texas and Texas Tech twisting in the wind for now. Especially since the word is Oklahoma wants the Big 12 commish fired and more set rules for the Longhorn Network defined as conditions for staying.
I can't see where they have many options now except to try to salvage the Big 12 by adding new schools (BYU, SMU maybe). The Pac-12 announcement threw a monkey wrench into the expansion gears for the time being.

Not true. Academics is a minor factor, but definitely in play.

Yeah, that's awesome. Kudos to the Pac group for being short-sighted and spiteful. Texas preferred all along to keep the Big XII together, and I'm guessing that Tech did too. I wonder if TCU can get out of its agreement with the Big East and join the Big XII instead.

If I were TCU I'd be thinking twice about the Big East and seeing if there were any interest from the Big 12. The Big East isn't a viable football conference atm (ESPN is reporting that they are looking at Navy, Army, Air Force and possibly ECU and Central Florida). And it looks the Big 12 will be kicking around for a bit longer. More natural rivalries and the travel distance is a lot better too.

No, not really, at least IMO. This is entirely driven by $$$$$$$$$ from football. Only way for BCS conferences to make more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ is to add teams. TV markets, Championship games, etc are all that matter.

I could still see a couple of current schools leaving the ACC, esp. if schools like UConn and Rutgers are added.
