Did 2 whole 400+ yard games allow you to glance into your crystal ball to predict is future?

Just my opinion based on what I saw at Auburn and so far in a Panthers uniform. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time, but I'm usually not.

If he can throw for 400+ yards two weeks in a row without the ability to read defenses or throw with proper mechanics, just think what he'll do WHEN he really learns the position...

He obviously can't throw the comeback route with the mechanics that he has.

he's a franchise quarterback. Collins was a franchise guy when drafted. There's no doubt what the team is doing here. That doesn't make him elite. That doesn't change that my view of "franchise" might not be what some view it.

Which, people pull out the superlative too often anyway. Josh Freeman, even Matt Ryan, get called elite a lot and it's like, hold on, let's bring it back down a bit. Being a high pick that is working out well, isn't elite. Average starter isn't elite.

To that end, he has elite talent, if he can put it all together. The problem is, as he's done a hundred times better than I expected right now, there are still massive holes in his game. Who knows if he'll ever be accurate or work from under center well. To that end, we run a fantastic offensive system when run right, but right now it's being run almost like the run and shoot. But, outside of yards he's also being decent in the pocket, which again is far ahead of where I figured.

So that's fine but maybe we can not talk about Pro Bowl, or Hall, or things like that.

We probably should define the term. You're using it to mean a guy the team intends to be a starter for 5+ years, whereas I take "franchise quarterback" to mean an elite level player, kind of like "#1 starter" in baseball.

Nobody should be crowning him a franchise QB after 2 games. He may be one day but you have to earn that title. I think what Collin is saying is that franchise QB's are the Big 6...Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers and The Rapist.

We're still waiting to see if Stafford, Ryan and Bradford will become franchise QB's so it's way to early to even consider Newton one.
