Well, Nebraska and Colorado left before the LHN, and I really think TAMU was just using that as an excuse. The major conferences don't like the idea of individual teams have their own separate networks, which means an advantage in exposure and as a revenue stream, but they'll get over it for a program like Texas.

Every school has their strengths when is comes to athletics. Syracuse used to be decent with McNabb. Penn St is primarily a football school and not all that recently. WV makes the most sense despite their lack of academic pedigree. Since we have a couple of Florida teams why not South Florida? Up and coming football program

Skip Holtz would finally be in the ACC.

I thought it was the recruiting angle that was pissing off other teams, especially TAM. More specifically, the idea that Texas has to air high school games on the Long Horn Network was a deal breaker.

The real question is if Texas came to the ACC would Mack Brown finally be able to beat Florida State?

The NCAA temporarily banned them from doing so, but I wonder how much of an advantage that would really be anyway.

They would be a good fit in terms of quality, but the problem is that any 15th & 16th team needs to add substantially to possible revenue since every team you add means that each school gets a smaller piece of the total revenue. That's why I'm skeptical of UConn. That's a decent media market, but not big enough to make a network offer tens of millions more than they would without them.

South Florida and WVU fans travel very well. Tarheel fans (and I am one) don't travel nearly as well

Which is why people want Rutgers. I think Rutgers would be a down grade and in no way makes this league more competitive..well womens basketball might get better.

Actually UNC travels very well, they just don't fill out their own god damned stadium. WVU is definitely better than UNC or South Florida, but that's completely irrelevant to television contracts anyway.

What are you talking about? If a 15th & 16th team are going to be added, then they need to be teams that bring in a lot of new revenue to the conference. UConn is debatable in that respect, but Rutgers would be absolutely pointless. Hardly anyone in NYC gives a shit about Rutgers, so just because they're close doesn't make them valuable.
