that's not what the rest of us are talking about, though. I mean, there's a superlative in here now and again but most of us are talking about this game, not years down the road.

Cam was good enough today to elevate this team from being shitty to almost winning.

Some of the defensive calls out there on 3rd and long were just boneheaded. They got some big plays, and two TDs off of dumbshit defensive blitzes.

Cam Newton did what no other rookie quarterback has done, in throwing for 422 yards against a pro defense that was bringing the house at times.

He will struggle this year and no one should assume he's going to do this week in and week out. Arizona sucks, and they beat us.

We are not a good team. We are penalized all to hell, we are undisciplined, we have a joke as a DC, we cannot tackle....but our rookie quarterback played lights out. I'll take it.

I think there will be Cam haters regardless of what he does, just as there were with Jake Delhomme, even when he was leading us to the Superbowl.

Cam has shown he can be an elite quarterback today. No matter what anyone says. Is he right now? Probably not. But he's shown he CAN be. Anyone who says otherwise, is just wrong.

GLad he's a Panther. The guy will have a rocky year...but next year, if he's still as hungry, still trying desperately to get better, I think we're going to be really happy we have him.

What I saw of him was really impressive, especially for a rookie. He may not have flawless technique or have elite potential as a pure passer. However, he clearly has elite poise and elite leadership in the works and he looks like a high caliber NFL starting QB in the makings to me.

He does have "it". Jake had "it" too but the difference is that Cam has a lot of talent to go with "it".

He impressed the heck out of me and I have been one of his bigger detractors. It is not the gaudy numbers that did it for me as much as the way he showed so much poise in the pocket. He is not a guy looking to run all the time like I feared he would be. He tries to make plays with his arm first.

I'm holding judgement on Cam until I see him play a few games. He looked impressive, but it was against Arizona. On the other hand, Green Bay is a different ball game. If he plays well, I'm on the bandwagon. If not, I'm not going to be critical.

I agree that it is too early to say what Cam's future holds, but this game is impressive and nobody says Phillip Rivers is any less of a QB because he threw 400 yards against Seattle or Oakland.

He wasn't a pussy, and the team totally believes in him. That's a great start regardless of the numbers.

That's just laughably wrong. LAUGHABLY. Even bad quarterbacks have great games. Yesterday showed that Cam still has bad technique, it didn't show anything about him being able to read defenses, and it didn't say anything about him being able to move the chains against a good defense. I know I'm being a party pooper here, but it's for a reason. You, Purr, and some others are overreacting to this performance in a way that is just absurd. Arizona played awful defense yesterday, correct? Shredding an awful defense is what a quarterback should do, and kudos to Cam for that, but it doesn't prove anything at all about whether or not he can be an elite quarterback.
