Kind of hard not to get tweaked when your rookie qb throws for over 400 yards in his first game and you lose your starting middle lb for the year. It`ll pobably be Newton`s best game of the year/career.

True, but the kid can play. The O has been so bad for so long it's nice to see. In a way I'm glad we lost. Cam looked pissed, I like that. I think he works harder now that he's had a taste and lost. And I'll bet as much of an anylist as you are, you'll find his mistakes.... and he did that well despite them.
He did what he was supposed to do: take advantage of a lesser D, and play well vs the blitz.

    Dont underreact, either.

Spread offense. no time to learn in lockout. only one year in major college. wont be able to throw from the pocket.

I'd have been encouraged with 55% completion, 8 ypa, 200 yards 1 TD and 1 INT.

    Instead - we got 65%, 11.4 ypa, 422 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 1 Rush TD.

That was a fuckin' statement. He's a Quarterback, he's our quarterback, and he has demonstrated that he is capable of being a top level NFL quarterback.

sure, they have a new coordinator, but they were also 29th last year on defense.

That said, he didn't struggle that much with the blitz, he was more consistent than he's ever been, and he looks like he has room to go up from there. Compared to anything we saw from Clausen last year (a similar near-miss game, with a two minute drive, was the Cleveland game, where JC needed the two minute to crest the 200 yard mark) this was fantastic. Cam had yards because he made plays, not because he was playing from behind.

In addition to it being Week 1, Arizona is also really fucking awful. If Cam has another good game against Green Bay then I'll definitely be impressed.

And holy shit this is good-lord-no-retarded-wrong:
I get the excitement after the abortion that Carolina put on the field last season, but that's a picture perfect example of hysterically overreacting. You're just setting yourself up for being disappointed by spouting such nonsense.

anyone having a good day against GB is impressive. No one should expect that.

But if he gives us half this on average from here out, he's a better player than what he replaced.

He's already better than what he replaced, but that's not the question. The question is if he will become good enough to elevate this roster into a playoff factor, and that won't be answered for some time. As much as it's cool to see Panthers among the league leaders, that's not reason to crown Cam any more than a bad day would have meant giving up on him.

Different OC, with blessings from the HC. I don't think we can fairly compare.

At the same time in this game, with this HC/OC, Clausen's vagina is definitely sore, and he'd have had many throwaways.
