The Delhomme extension after Jake's 2nd half of 2008 + AZ Playoff Game was absurd. You never fire someone for one mistake, but FFS, that was an epic mishap.

Remind me how that invalidates "Carolina's hardly the only team to spend large inhouse."

I've talked about outside deals we tried and failed at, without any idea of the depth or scope they went into. You're trying, what, dismissiveness? I guess that can work too.

so it's again a dismissive idea, that most teams would've reasonably re-signed Kalil, Beason, and probably others before now? That the reason for "second most cap room" might've had to do with having 26 free agents and various stars without long term deals?

That seems like the type thing you'd just gloss over and instead rant about how you don't like Hurney and don't like me? OK, sure. So, dismissiveness then?

actually, you "dog" me and nothing more. You always say that I'm "obsessed", or rather, plenty of people you argue with are "obsessed" and/or "intellectually dishonest" because these are your tactics, but you're the one digging up every word I've ever said. I doubt there's much of anyone really worried about words, like mine about Dom Capers', that you can neither prove nor anyone is interested in.

Again, you're working harder to be dismissive (the always fun "this is why this person has no idea what they're talking about" instead of bothering to argue the topic) than anything else.

It's the idea that what I state I mean, isn't what I mean because it works for your argument.

I wasn't really worried about it. You carried it around for six years. What another man said, on the internet, for six years. And this isn't supposed to be commentary on you, right? I mean, this is supposed to be something about me.

You mean I still believe that a statement of rough estimation isn't a direct integer output? You mean, had I meant 5, I would've said five?

Wow, you mean you're hung up two (or more, you may not be correct about it being 09) years on wordplay? I swear to God, I wish I'd said something even more ridiculous for you to obsess over, like smidge. Or bushel.

allright, go back a decade, since you hang on my every word, and see if that's actually true. If not, I'm going to go Collin on you and call you a fucking liar.

I respond to being personal because you make it personal. You think it's a way to 'win', just like everything else. It just makes you look out of control.

Bettis was 29 at that point. Pats paid huge for Adalius Thomas and Randy Moss was a heavy expenditure as well - the Eagles aren't known for spending sprees either. The idea that any of these teams have a "method" individually might be true but they go away from it. Again, the way the Pats did things one point in the last ten isn't the same they did it in others.

If the end result is improvement on the field, vs. lack thereof, what's the issue here? What? We're freaked out about 2012-2015's cap situation? So the fuck what? Just restructure some shit and move on.

Brian Billick may have a thought or two, via-John Adams?

Agents Email me with exact figures at the end of every month, so get back to me then.

Who besides Santana Moss? The Edwards thing is unsubstantiated. Again, Carolina had the second most cap room of any team, but came away with Olindo Mare and Ron Edwards in free agency. You said yourself that Hurney obviously planned on blowing that money to extend CJ, DeAngelo, Beason, Kalil, Anderson, and TD the whole time. Clearly there was never any serious intent to try and bring in outside talent beyond that one offer to Moss.

Most teams try to re-sign their core guys for amounts they consider "reasonable," and if those players want more than is reasonable, then those teams let those players test the market. Meanwhile Hurney just hands out blank checks.

When you say something intelligent, I back you, even when other people dispute it. Frankly, I much prefer agreeing with you because this back and forth is fucking annoying. But when you pretend that Seifert did a good job, or Delhomme was a good quarterback, or Hurney hasn't butt-fucked the franchise with SUPERAIDS, then I'm going to disagree vociferously. But again, you're the one who talks shit about me away from this board. You're the one who continued to post about me while I was gone. You pretending that you're not obsessed or bitter goes back to you not being able to be honest with yourself.

The Hurney thing is not debatable to me, so yeah, anyone who pretends that he hasn't fucked the franchise is an idiot in my eyes. But I didn't call someone an idiot because they wanted to draft Cam or because they think he'll be great. I disagreed with those positions, but it's not a settled matter like Hurney.

Yes, because it illustrates that you do not have the capacity to admit when you're wrong about anything, even when it's obvious and undeniable. You not being able to just say "I was wrong about Shawne Merriman being a DE-only" shows a fundamental inability to be honest.

I asked you to ballpark it. You refused to give any sort of answer because you knew I had counted how many sweeps the team actually ran, and you knew I was going to prove you wrong again. You just can't be honest.

It doesn't bother me if you do say hateful things. Purr does and I think he's great. What annoys me is that you bitch about me doing it, then act like you don't do the exact same shit.

You're doing this on purpose to see if you can give me an anuerysm, right? Hurney's lavish spending before caused the team to be unable to bring in any additional talent, ultimately limiting the potential of the roster. The Delhomme, Gamble, Wharton, and Gross contracts meant that there wasn't enough money to be a major player in the free agent market. Carolina had to make major cuts just to get out from salary cap hell leading up to last season. Now Hurney has undone all of that and put the team right back where it was. They're tight against the salary cap for years to come, and don't have the flexibility to bring in major talent through free agency. Philadelphia both drafts well and signs quality free agents. Green Bay does the same. How exactly are the Panthers ever going to compete with that by giving $35 million to a guy coming off of two ACL surgeries?

    Because:
#1) Richardson has shown that he will respond to fan unrest, and that clearly needs to happen if Hurney is ever going to be fired.

#2) Precisely because you are a fan, you should care if the team is fucking up.

If we flounder at 2-14 hopefully we'll get a Christmas present in Hurney's walking papers
