Really? I thought Clausen was very very bad last year. Lost. Of course, the Jets had coaches who wanted to coach Sanchez.

Seemed like people fell in love with booing in '09, I'm pretty sick of it.

I don't know if I fit the category, but anybody who has their mind made up about a player after this game had it made up before it. I think both still have a good shot at being successful starters, in time.

Jesus Christ, dude. I'm not saying that Jimmy Clausen will or even could become Aaron Rodgers. In fact, in our magazine last year I made the case that he would eventually become an above average but far from elite quarterback. Clearly my point in this thread was that anyone who says QBs need to have swag or be natural leaders to be elite is simply wrong. In the future, any time you want to direct a post towards me about any subject, please take five minutes to think about it beforehand.

I absolutely agree that he was very, very bad. Horrid, in fact. Abominable even. My point was that Mark Sanchez was very, very bad as a rookie as well, but the Jets overcame it and the Jets fans obviously didn't rush to the judgment that he was a lost cause.

Agreed. If I ever boo my team, it's usually because I want the coach to go for it or something of that nature. The only other examples I can think of are a player doing something dirty, being lazy, or otherwise making an ass of himself.

Clausen has limitations physically, but not so much that he can't be very good if he works his ass off and becomes a little more consistent. Greatness, these days, it not typically found outside the 1st round for QB's. Tom Brady...ok. That was like over a decade ago.

There's a reason Clausen fell to us, and you can see why, at times. But to irrationally shit all over him with the intent to wedge another rookie in the lineup before he's ready is foolish.

One has nothing to do with the other. Cam will be good enough to start when a very competent coaching staff determines it to be so. If anyone feels JJR, or any fans, will influence Rivera's timeline on this doesn't know a damn thing about the way things work.

    Brian Billick: your thoughts, sir?

Do you think you ever boo'd Jake Delhomme, say, in 2006? 2009? :woot:

You're come to this conclusion from watching him play his rookie season on the worst team in the league? Brilliant.

Didn't get to watch the game. I was wondering, with all the attention Eric Norwood was getting in Training Camp how he did in the game. Nobody has said anything about him. Who got most of the time at DE with Johnson out? Judging by the way the defense did as a whole, somebody must have played well.

    Preseason game 1 thoughts:

I thought Barnidge was great on STs, he was always near the ball on kicks and blocking well on KOs/punt returns. Could help him stick.

Anderson looked like the best QB on the field, naturally.

Goodson looks great, except he's a prominent fumbler. I hate that.

#46 linebacker was all over the place, Williams I think?

Newton is not super accurate, but has zip.

Clausen is more acurate but seems week. The first pass down the seam he threw very well right off the bat, then the score pass was ok, behind Olson though - good catch. I thought the int was on Williams.

RB corps looks deep as usual.

Edwards does look a lot better than last year.

Oline doesn't look all that super.

    Dline looks better.
